Japan needs to get over it ...she is gorgeous...they should be proud to have her represent their country...that is what I love about the evolution of Miss USA & Miss America...blonde haired blue eyed miss Texas is not all we are seeing these days

Considering many nations have a default 'identity,' I'd be pretty much inclined to believe that quite a few traditional-looking, resident Japanese people aren't happy with this

National identities (ie the shade of their skin) are an issue and other countries want to stop/slow down immigration because of that

I can go on with this but the point is that this sort of reflexive tribal stance against those seen as different or as intruders can be found in the black community too. Kudos to the writer of the piece who brought up that very same fact and even addressed how many darkskinned black woman take a similar offense to lightskinned black women when they win beauty contests or cast in major movie roles.

At least this whole incident is happening in Japan and not, say, Denmark. If so we would have to deal with another article/twitter war about how those evil white ladies can't handle black beauty (because black women won't take aim at white society in general but rather at their arch rival instead: white heifers).
