The French prosecutor has given this explication based on the voice recorder, not on the data black box.
So maybe the final story may be different.
In other words, the co pilot is being blamed, not the Airbus plane.

I was wondering...if he wanted to commit suicide, why not just charter a plane?
Since he was in love with flying since he was 14, I could totally understand the choice to die like this but not the choice of taking another 149 people with him.
He could have chartered a cessna for example and just crash it.
But it's hard to try to understand the actions of a person who is suffering with mental issues (AGAIN: if that was the case)

Guess he just snapped on the spot and said fuck the world.....something spontaneous

I'd hate to think he actually woke up that day and planned to end his life with all those people on board

That's some wild shit....that's like being on a crowded bus and having the driver deliberately drive off a bridge or something

Really makes you remember that ur putting ur life into the hands of other people, when in transit

Of course, that's what a normal, healthy person would think.. On aero.de you can read that the police in Düsseldorf mentioned that they've found a medical certificate for being unable to work that day. Why or what sickness, is not mentioned.
No farewell letter or claim of responsibility.

It's amazing to me that the co-pilot's breathing was recorded as normal through the descent. I guess he was totally at peace with what he was doing. No last minute panic or emotion. Smh.

The french prosecutor described it as a hard breathing, till the final, without any word.
They've said just now that he was two times in March in hospital, but not because of depressions.

And they've showed the flight, too again. The last five mins the planes nose was going up again, but just for 30 sec, then it was going down hard into the rocks

What I also find sad is that 27 people aren't missed till today. No one is asking, no one is waiting for them..

I flew home today...sat next to a young couple on the plane with a 9 month old baby...upon landing I couldn't help but tear up thinking about all of those people that died in the alps...

i also noticed that all the televisions were off at DIA...normally CNN is on every screen...with the coverage of the recent tragedy it's probably not good for the airline business to have passengers glued to the televisions

The french prosecutor confirmed the intentional crash of the plane.
The co pilot was sick and under medication.
It appears that the disappointment that he will never be a captain of a plane, because of his sickness, led him into depression and the hate that, if he cannot live his dreams others may not either.
    I'm lost for words

According to Bild that pilot told his ex girlfriend he will change things and they will know his name. Another tabloid said he is horrified by gay ghosts. Whatever his condition he did a terrible act and did not give a rat's butt to humanity.

G74,I wonder why Bild got all the scoop on news instead DeZeit or other German newspapers?

the bild promotes nothing but yellow/tabloid journalism. i dont know what s the best word for that in english.
they make a global size story out of a pee by adding a load of suggestions and speculations without any dependable proof.
bild..is, how should i say. a newspaper for the mass that s not into deeper research and more likely into striking and loud headlines and wants to have a cheap "newspaper" (price is not comparable to die zeit, taz or faz. f.e.)
btw they are pretty racistic and inciting in their way of writing.

Yes,G74,it is like the British Tabloids in the UK or the supermarket tabloids in the USA. In some newsstands in Europe The National Enquirer is sold. I read Bild when I visit Germany. It is like USA Today a bit since USA Today has more hard news than Bild. Also USA Today Europe is sold as well.

Yes, he was suffering from depression for years. They now made public that Lufthansa knew about his condition.

An analysis of his computer revealed that he was doing an online research for suicide methods AND for cockpit door security.
So much for this being a spontaneous decision :(

I read a story yesterday about current germanwings pilots greeting passengers as they board the plane...shaking their hands and assuring them that they have a family to get home to as well...pilots addressing the entire cabin of passengers and making eye contact while speaking over the microphone...

germanwings is still flying planes...it must be very difficult for their employees to have one person tarnish their reputation and basically harm those that are still living and need their jobs

300 million is the current payout to families...I will be shocked if it doesn't bankrupt the airline

that co-pilot was a piece of shit...he knew he was mentally ill..why not seek help...i will never understand why others have to go down with these people....

You're expecting someone who's severely mentally ill (fucking bananas) to behave rationally ie seek help

Germanwings belongs to Lufthansa, it will definitely harm the airline but probably not lead to a bankruptcy. There might be some heavy effects on the employees though (cut downs etc.)

He was actually seeing doctors and was supposed to stay home that day.
He tore the doctor's notice apart and decided to do what he did :(

A person suffering from depression should never have a job where the person is reliable for other people's lifes imo.
He was suicidal before and Lufthansa knew about his problems.
He was supposedly tested and passed all psychological tests.
I think it was wrong to let him sit in this seat. He was a ticking time bomb.
