Plane crash kills 150 people in French Alps

I don't know how one (not you, personally) can downplay the fact that the pilot was locked out of the cockpit, banging on the door trying to break it down to get in, just before it crashed. Our government immediately denied there was any form of terrorism involved, trying to downplay it..well we see now according to the black box there was indeed some form of terrorism here.

 

I'm sorry for your loss. I know Germany will take care of her people.

 

I think the minimum conclusion from the crash investigation will be that someone deliberately flew that airline jet into the side of a mountain in the French Alps.

As of yet mechanical failure isn't a plausible explanation.

A controlled 8 minute descent and no mayday call, yet the co-pilot is literally trying to kick the door down to the cockpit??

Big problem.

I wonder why after 9/11 all airlines didn't install general surveillance cams on flights. Just to record a visual record of any nonsense happening on flights??

We've got cams on some DC metro trains with more to come, to catch dumbass kids fighting and stealing smartphones, homeless guys defecating in their sleep, etc.

It's almost as if the airlines don't want too much info after crashes, to give them legal deniability if their lack of proper safety protocols contributed to a jet crash.

Still waiting for a passenger manifest to show up.

 

You know, after hearing the vocal black box, some things get clearer and at the same time - more strange. A lot of informations go around. The plane was on the ground for more than four hours before departure, because of a door problem. But which door? The pilot, did he committ suicide? Was something going on in the pilots life, we don't know yet? If the pilot had i.e. a heart attack, why was the plane going down? Was the computer hacked?
Therefore it is important that France leads the investigation, not Germany, not Spain. Speculations, thoughts, ideas... we have to wait and follow
The new safety instructions were the trap for these victims. Before 9/11, everyone was able to open the door to the cockpit without any codes or emergency codes, some sort of cruel irony.

The French are reporting the plane was deliberately crashed in to the alps...how very sad for all the families to experience a loss in such a horrible way

The prosecution of Marseille said two hours ago at a press conference that the co-Pilot was talking to the pilot about the landing in Düsseldorf. Then the pilot left the cockpit. The co Pilot locked the door, manipulated the auto-pilot and initiated the letdown. During the last minutes, one could just hear the pilot shouting to open the door, the co pilots breathing and the screaming of the passengers.

The co pilot was a 28 yr old young man, very talented and since autumn 2013 member of the FAA with distinction.

 

It is just beyond my comprehension how one would commit suicide and take so many lifes with him (if that was the case).

If the co-pilot really wanted to commit suicide, he could have just chartered a small plane like a cessna for this purpose.

It's so tragic and sad.
Imagine the despair of the pilot who realized what was going on and who couldn't get back into the cockpit to stop the crash.

 

It concerns all of us. 18 nationalities were on board, nearly everybody used planes in the past and I've heard later about it, so I wasn't in a stress situation( but thank you very much)

The prosecutor till now does not confirm a suicide, but the information that the co pilot initiated the let down, before he became silent and didn't react anymore, makes anyody believe that he acted with full consequences, concious. Police started with house searches ( family house and his own Appartment). The family of him is with the other relatives of the victims together in France. The french gendarmerie separated them. When they find the second black box, we will know 100% definitly

 

This new information makes a tragic situation so much worse. My heart goes out to all affected.

 

You never know what people are thinking or going through

 

I heard a snippet on talk radio just now, where they were saying that apparently, there was a pause in his training due to some 'issues', supposedly of the mental sort. Not sure if this is true. They said it was resolved but that avert the training is fine, there is no follow up, regular mental tests after the first pass. Bet that will change. Same with there not being an override (that were put in place after 911).

 

Another black eye to mental health, in regards to the stigma people with prior mental health issues have imposed upon them

Now ur just going to have more people avoiding treatment or hiding symptoms so they don't get rejected from a gig

 

Well what's the alternative? Let them crash planes?

 

This is exactly why people avoid mental health treatment like the plague

There are more undiagnosed, sick people wreaking havoc in this world, than ones with a legit diagnosis and a treatment plan

The Union of pilots *Cockpit" intervened yesterday that because of the noises the prosecutor heard by the vocalblackbox, it is not sure. There are several other scenarios possible..That two persons are always in the cockpit is good, but an absolutly security you don't have. If someone plans a crash like this, he can poison or beat that second person, too and the security observation (intelligence service) pilots are put under has to be enlarged for the flight attendants. More risk or low risk? I don't know..

BTW.. the relatives of 27 victims aren't found and informed yet

And you know, having mental issueses (depression/burnout) and being a mass murderer is a big difference. Second type is a very narcistic, sensational lustful personality with an enormous hate for humanity. Normally people that made a lot disappointments in their life and couldn't handle it different than just developing hate, socially isolated. It is simply strange, he was successful, described as friendly, social with a lot of friends. And not to forget that another pilot by Lufthansa mentioned that this special plane no one wanted to fly. The crews that refused to fly. On the other hand, it's not the first time a pilot comitted /tried to comitt a suicide like this

I do feel like we won't get the full story on this co-pilot killer.Too much money involved in the airline business.

 

The whole investigation is too much under pressure. When you look into the faces of the responsible people, when the give interviews, they are all pale, have red eyes and sweat, totally weary. Everyone wants to have answers. And of course Lufthansa and Airbus are interested in their reputation, but if this possibility that they've hired a psychopath as a pilot is the better alternative for them, is questionable. It would just be an advantage for Airbus.

 

I'm all for going out on your own terms..but I draw the line with thinking you have the right to take other people out with you

I'm just saying

Lots of people avoid being treated/hide illnesses because they don't want that to be on their official record (for fear of discrimination)

So many 'normal' people do so much wrong in this world, yet when someone does something and has 'documented' mental health issues, everyone points it out and starts to rail against the mentally ill/people with a history of treatment

The reality is that there are loads of fully functional people with some sort of history of mental health issues

If you purged humanity of people with documented issues, humanity would still tear itself apart
