Thankfully, I'm just as, if not more, interested in his mind, heart and soul.

I defended him because he was a KID! Period. If we were talking about a 45 yr-old man, my perspective would've been much different. At the age that kid is you do stupid things. Insensitive things. We all have. I have to think there isn't one of us here who doesn't have some regret over youthful idiocy. And once again, I never advocated that folks here forgive him. I merely suggested that remorse may have had SOMETHING to do with his apology.

What I see here too often is people's unwillingness to step into another's shoes for even a second. I am (not literally, but simply by my dating choices and being part of this forum) asked every day to step into a BM's shoes and I do my best to do so - as much as I can, being a WW. But how often are they willing, for one minute, to step into mine? Ok, don't even step into my shoes - just consider my perspective without a knee-jerk reaction.

Not sure what the taking a drink smiley thing was for.

You contradict yourself. If you are stepping into a black man's shoes by dating them and by being on the forum, every black man on here is as well. You may be surprised that there are some on here who step into many different shoes every day and don't have the luxury of stepping out of those shoes at will.

I actually think the kid was probably remorseful, and scared shitless once he felt some of the wrath that came his way. Unfortunately though, I seriously doubt he would have been remorseful if nothing had come out.

You seem to have taken a pretty hard stand against this forum in general. Is it because of that particular thread? You have brought it up numerous times in different threads now. I didn't say anything about you saying to forgive them in my post. Often what people get the most upset about is when they are seeing others do the same things they are doing. It becomes a power struggle of sorts and more about who's right/wrong and ego than what's really going on.

Personally, I wouldn't really be concerned about if people agreed with you or not. Who cares what some people we don't know on a forum's opinion of what we think or say is? They aren't paying my bills.

I've noticed a stark contrast in posts between the women who have mixed kids and the ones who don't

The ones with mixed kids ain't got no time for the racial bullshit

I used to cheer riley cooper on for the eagles until one of these shorties here knocked me out

See now really...why do you have to do that? Just when there actually starts to be a somewhat intelligent honest conversation....someone has to throw in some comment just to stir shit.

If you REALLY want there to be change, it has to start somewhere sweets.

Hmm interesting. Honestly, I really hadn't noticed it too much, but then I wasn't really paying attention. I am just surprised at times when certain things are posted. But then I tend to be rather protective over black men.

I can certainly get why there is a difference. I mean I'm always going to come from a place of thinking about my children and how things impact them. I'll admit that there have been (many) times I've read things online that have hit my heart very hard. At times, I'm sure I've been overly sensitive about things. It can be overwhelming at times to know that your children go out into a world and are instantly judged on the color of their skin. And there is nothing we can really do to change that! No matter how much we may live with it, try to understand it, we really do not know how it feels. Even some of us who grew up being ostracized because of our ethnicity, it's just not the same.

So maybe because we realize that no matter how much we try to empathize with our children, we are very clear that it's not the same as living in their world. We know very well that we can never really know what it is to be a black man as well.

On the other side, as it's been mentioned at times, others don't know what it is to live our lives every day. I'm certainly not complaining! I love the choices I've made in life and I'm thankful to be given the honor and the privilege to see things from different perspectives.

    This i can agree with

I try to put myself in the shoes of others as well...it just seems like the fair thing to do before coming to conclusions

I know what it's like to be black in America but gotdamn whites/non-blacks are people too and go through trials and tribulations also

Are you kidding ches? We are forced on a daily basis to look at things from the perspective of white people. It's the default perspective.

Is it really hard to see things from a white person's perspective? It's the perspective we are constantly forced to see things from so it really shouldn't be that tough. Other non blacks I agree with like I wouldn't be happy being Mexican in SoCal or Arizona.

I have no idea where the smiley came from. Just a goof.

I mentioned that thread in this thread. And no, one thread is not enough to get my nose out of joint. If I understand correctly, you've recently come back to the forum after being away for a bit so you don't know what discussions have had an impact on me over the last 3-1/2 years. But one thing that does piss me off is being called a racist and/or insinuating or outright accusing me of using BM to satisfy some sexual fantasy.

And if we didn't care about what another says, why would any of us spend any time here? Trust me, I don't lose sleep over what anyone here thinks of me or my opinions unless I know them outside the forum.
