Incredibly surprised that NY LA San Francisco and Boston didn't make the list even though (outside of DC and Miami) all are far more expensive cities. I wonder how they collected the data

I am not a fan of McDonalds but I always thought it was weird that so many women have such a problem with going there but don't mind pizza or applebees or some other chain. Are you afraid what your friends may think?

I guess it depends on what we're doing. Usually I prefer low-key, low-pressure first dates, like coffee or something. This seems a bit intense to me.

That's lets you know the whole thing is bullshit. Obvious bias against NYC/SF/Boston.

The writer I bet has a personal beef against those cities.lol

Some folks hate seeing NY at the top of any pop culture list, since so many New Yawkers think the world revolved around them anyway.:smt006

Well North mentioned it in the original post. Then when you look at the list we all know there are places with much higher cost of living and it begins to not make sense. Memphis and New Orleans is on there but not LA or San Fran or San Diego. Hell even Denver is more expensive than a lot of these places.

I saw Boston on the list at #8. I had no idea it was so expensive there, but then again, with so many elite academic institutions, I shouldn't be surprised. Any forum members from Boston here who can give us an overview?

Of course, living in Germany,I am not the best judge of cost of living in other countries.
However I do not think a date always needs to be dinner in a fancy restaurant.
If the weather is nice, grabbing some ice cream and going for a walk in a park is fun, too.

Did you really just ask me that???? :smt043:smt005 For crying out loud, TDK!!! If I cared what anyone thought would I even be on this forum?! That's got to be the dumbest thing you've ever said to me! Go look at the links I posted for Beasty and tell me why I choose not to want a fast food place on a first date.

The comment in the bold shows how superficial this is. Suge Knight can drop 500 dollars on a date. That isn't representative that he won't run you over in a car if he doesn't like you. sad to see this.....

Depending on the *first* date, $15 to $40 dollars, tops. I'm thinking coffee and chat, or a couple of drinks and chat. Dinner dates are not first dates in this day and age, not for this brotha. Hell, even something unconventional like a rock climbing date falls within this budget. WTF....

Not to mention it comes off a little desperate. Can't be giving too much too soon.

honestly, now not minding if the source is correct or not, this sounds ridiculous expensive to me.
ok, keep it that way- anyone can spend that amounts on going out and even more, that s possible, too, here, on my side of the world.
but damn, you cant tell me that you cant have it for less then that and still decent.

Smh. You seriously give me a migraine. I'm not 12 or a pompous ass. And yep, we can have a conversation about health and weight. As long as you can keep insults and condescending comments out of it. You don't know my journey and I don't know yours. And I've never insulted or derided overweight folks. Can you say the same? (And I'm not talking about specific people here. I mean in general). Just because you may have been victorious in your own journey doesn't give you the right to sit in judgement of someone else's.

Big co-sign, I met my wife in winter, and our first date was to a free outdoor skating rink. Total cost was less than $10 for the skate rental and a couple of hot chocolates, while we skated, talked and got to know each other.
