It seems about right. Depending on the cost of living, as well as how involved the date is. Seems about average to me.

My gf was telling me that she recently talked to a guy from some dating site. He's in his early 50's. He was going on about how he has had the best luck with women who do not need to be wined and dined. She asked him what he considered to be wining and dining and he said something about really nice places and paying $40-50 for drinks and dinner.

I'm not really a drinker, but I really don't know of a place that you can get drinks and dinner for two people for $40-50, certainly not a nicer place.

This guy didn't think he should be paying a few dollars for an ice tea or a coffee though.

Nope. Still not doing Mickey D's for a first date, but unless you drink expensive stuff, we can do dinner for under $30 here.

Reno actually shocks the hell out of me. I could see a dinner in Vegas costing that much as I spent way too much there a few weeks ago, but what is about Reno that's making men spend so much?

That's one of the good things about living in the south. There are some decent places to eat where we can both eat and drink plenty and spend about $50. It's nice to be able to go out and not be worried about breaking the bank.

It would definitely make for a good prank, only after actually having a good time of course lol.

Dunno. I like eating at Atlantis in Reno. Its all you can eat and they have plenty of good food like filet mignon, lobster, ribeye, salmon, cheese cake the whole nine. Don't ever remember how much it costs but it's not nearly that much.

I just looked it up. It's $20, $30 each depending on what night of the week it is. That's not including tax, tip, or booze.

Nope. Not spending anything near that in a first date. I like to do casual, meet up, type of things on a first date, anyway. Then, if we click and I decide to take her on a second date, then I'll do something a bit more involved.

I don't belive in spending money to impress my dates. Nothing against those who do. It's just not my style.

Yah it sounded good so I had to go look! LOL I may have to go up there. Some of the buffets aren't so good, that one sounds good though.

The one in Roseville is pretty good too.

Second link don't work and the first link is to the date site, not the study. Could you provide a link? I would love to find out more

Ain't no way in hell I would even want the dude to spend that much on a first date. Crazy. A cup of coffee is good enough.

This evolved into a snotty discussion last year. I don't want to go to a fast food place for a first date. But I don't need high-end dining either. I don't drink, so that cuts down on costs right there. My sister and I just went out to eat at a restaurant within a nice sports bar. She ordered a quesadilla, house fries and an artisan beer, I had a pulled pork sandwich, fries and water with lemon. Parking was $5. The restaurant had character, ambience, fun music and we had a table to ourselves so we could talk. I would've been perfectly happy with that for a first date, especially because it was someplace I hadn't been and wanted to go. Total cost for the night: $34.
