There is a difference between nice guys and doormats etc. Don't get them confused.

    Exactly!

I don't think he's going to get that though.....I've obviously tried many times to explain it

I think a lot of people prefer to call themselves 'nice guy', but really are wet noodles with no back bone (that includes both women and men) and nobody respect that. 'Nice guys' tho, the ones that are nice guys and not wet noodles get play all day long. Granted, there are some women that are misdirected an d prefer bad boys but most women grow out of that.

    Agreed.

There are also those that have "hidden agendas", are passive-aggressive, manipulative, etc. That's not a nice guy. That's a slime ball trying to act like he's a nice guy.

i get that....its about semantics. the term "nice guy"
    depends on context.

also the term "nice guy" is not just my term ...its in the article?

whats the title of both articles?

Actually....it's a difference in the definition.

I get that you think the articles are accurate. I just happen to think that a better source of information would be the women that you may be interested in, or women in general. They probably have a better take on what it is they want, don't want, and why.

eactly on all. one point is "nice guys" arent upfront...they try to friend their way in. that doesnt work. its deceptive. when dude dont get it then he starts on a shooting spree.

the first article was written by a woman.

Yah but you aren't getting it. We both have said - that's not really "nice guys". Go back to the posts where several of us (women) have described what we consider to be TRUE Nice Guys. It's not what the articles are describing, it's not a doormat, or anything hidden, misleading etc. There's a huge difference.

I don't care - I think she's an idiot of she believes it.

But again, that's why I think it's important that people are on the same page of the definitions of what they are discussing. Otherwise they don't get anywhere in the conversation....like with this one.

i know what u are saying....i never disagreed with u.
the term "nice guy" is a catch all for those terms.

as friends of mine (women) and women in passing would use the term good man who would be decisive and honest as u guys are saying

u are getting upset over nothing. no ones disagreeing with u.

the term "nice guy" encompass what u , fg and others stating about dudes being doormats and what not.

    calm down...

LOL I'm not upset at all. If I was any calmer I'd be comatose. I just happen to type fast and be rather direct in way I communicate.

And no...the term "nice guy" (as me FG and others in the thread define it) does NOT encompass being doormats and what not.

There wasn't a question. Goodlove just posted an article. My comment was in reference to your opinion (as a woman) on what makes an alpha male which I deemed to be somewhat problematic from a gender role perspective. But, I do understand that some people prefer more traditional roles, so it's fine.

thats a good point....define alpha male.

why would it be a waste of time for men to point out why a dude got put in the friend zone.
