He must've not paid heed to the tradition of not seeing the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding. The fact that he beat her up is stupid. I recall a few stories of the unexpected happenings on the wedding day. Didn't he vow to love, and live with each other in sickness and health for richer or poorer, for better or worse?

About 30 years ago, I was over at a friend's house and we sat around listening to the radio. The DJ gets a call and the caller mentioned that he ad just gotten married and he and his wife are on their honeymoon. The DJ congratulated them and asked, "Can I ask you something? Why in the hell are you calling us for? You should be with your wife taking care of business." We laughed hard after that incident.

In 1988, I worked at a historical theme park called Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ. It was a small township that existed a long time ago. I worked in the Meeting House. It was where a lot of banquets, parties, meetings and wedding receptions. I worked three of them. And the first one was a doozie. The bride was drunk and the groom was sober. She had a beer almost every 15 minutes. I had the duty of standing by for the cake cutting ceremony to do two things; clean up if the couple do a smacko with the cake pieces and hold the bride's beer. She danced a polka with this tall German guy who flung her around like a rag doll. Me and my co-workers had to keep our eyes open for the bride because she was so wasted. It was very amusing.

A friend of mine and I in the 90's went to a happening club one Saturday night. It was Ladie's Night and drinks were free to ladies between the hours of 10 and midnight. We were separated but she walked around and checked up on me. Later that night, a newly wedded couple walked into the club. They were young and attractive. I was playing pool and got beat along with two other guys by a woman who knew how to play pool. She had beaten me twice. She walked up to me and asked in a low voice, "You wanna dance?"
I said yes. She then said, " Come on, then."
She was drunk and our dance was very awkward. We danced to Santana's Oye Como Va. She couldn't decide what she wanted to do. She left me on the dancefloor and walked out. She was arrested for DWI.
My friend was a little drunk herself. She tried to sober up by walking the entire length of the club.
I took her to an I-HOP and we had breakfast. My friend was so out of it, she almost fell face first in her pancakes.
Another Saturday night, we went to the movies and she told me about the young married couple that came into the club. She told me that the bridegroom was getting pretty cozy with another woman in the club and there was some drama that followed. The lesson here is go straight to the honeymoon as soon as possible and stay away from the clubs.
