It's true most of the stuff I see uploaded to the consumer-fed sites are gonzo or pov

I actually had to visit AVN and Wikipedia to see if I could find big budget (what a joke right) porn

Today "big budget" means the cameraman brings along a lighting guy as well.

The Pirates film series was pretty big budget(in fact, the first film was the most expensive production at that time in the 90's. There were two versions of the second Pirates film(one hard core and the other for non-premium cable tv).

West Side was an IR porno version of West Side Story and Romeo And Juliet. Not a big budget, but a film that had a story, big cast including Lexington Steele, Mr. Marcus, Nici Sterling and her husband Wilde Oscar, and good, "performances."

Though, I have not seen The Expendables films, I do recall at one time in the 80's when there were a lot of men's action films(Thank you,, Raymond Chow, The Shaw Brothers, Sam Peckinpah, Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, and others), with men like Chuck Norris, Michael Dudikoff, David Carradine, and many others known and unknown. When the film Lone Wolf McQuade came out, martial arts fans wanted to know what would happen if Norris and Carradine fought and who would win(the final fight scene showed a scene where Carradine actually hits the actress who played Norris' daughter. It was so violent the scene where she falls is in slow motion. Carradine was sued for that). Many films like that followed. But this a time when manliness was worshipped and expected.

As far as female Thors, You could start with actress Sandahl Bergman when she was in Conan, The Barbarian, or go back to Lana Clarkson when she was in Barbarian Queen. In The 90's, Cynthia Rothrock and Karen Sheppard dominated. Rothrock was not a great actress, but a very good fighter. And of course there has to be honorable mention to Grace Jones.

I don't think he meant actresses playing Thor, but the fact that Thor currently in Marvel comics has been replaced by a female since for some reason he is now unworthy to wield his hammer Mjolnir.

I believe he was calling women who fight men and win female Thors, like Lucy Lawless from Xena.

What the fuck do they think needs to be covered in a Roots remake that wasn't covered in the original or the actual book? More realistic and brutal depictions of whippings, maimings and overall inhuman treatment of other humans to others compared to what was shown in the original? Oh..I know white folks saying nigger more frequently in this go around......

Shit, both Roots and Shaka Zulu will be on multiple TV/cable channels all next month, just like they have been for the last almost 20 years or so for Black History month. Anyone, black or otherwise, who hasn't seen either one of those movies aren't trying to watch them by choice and won't watch any remakes either IMO.

    I know

    I see your point tho...

I think they're remaking it to bring it up to 21st century standard, because people are interested in Amerikkken history and would like to watch a show like that but would be put off watching some old ass shit

I won't be watching it...I have no intention of watching 12 years a slave either

I've lived through enough first-hand racism in my own lifetime and do not feel compelled to watch more

Maybe this appeals to the uninitiated who want to know what it's 'like'

But they can't give a reality based account? Give plenty accounts of black people being beat down and dehumanized but more than one account of black folks rising up and fighting back is too much......

Now u know blacks never done anything based in reality

    :p

    Again I see your point

Django was mere fantasy...a 'wish' of sorts

Nat turner was the real deal...someone to look back at and feel proud of
