My point is everyone who agrees doesn't need to be convinced and those that do ain't listening to this anyway.

 

Self-segregation in media choices means that we aren't getting much information beyond those items that confirm our preconceptions. I'm as guilty of this as anyone. I push myself to read The Economist and the FT to try to beat this, but I admit I can't handle the Fox B.S. Channel.

 

Same...I try to look all around to see the view from the other sides

I'll look at black voices @ huffpost to see news that's affecting the black community and to get a majority black view of things, then I'll switch over to cnn or the New York Times, followed by daily check of faux news and a ton of other sites

Hell I'll even head over to the lgbt section of huffpost to see what's going on in that world, as sometimes their issues overlap ours....just from a different perspective

Just limiting yourself to one group or one way of thinking seems pretty narrow minded

 

What you're doing is a good example of what we all need. So many people aren't informed and that's the most important requirement of any democratic form of government.

 

its been said "liberals" are more opened minded and tend to look at several different medias while conservatives are very limited in their viewing. that is why fox has bigger numbers in the ratings.

I have a conservative friend whom I offered to listen an hour of whatever news program or talk show he'd like as long as he did the same. An even hour for hour exchange. He said flat no. He knew everything he got all the info he needed from his conservative news sources.

Too many people are like that.

 

That's also part of why "liberals" tend to have more "nuanced" views and less black-and-white absolutes. Thus, progressive ideas don't readily lend themselves to nifty soundbites.

I think it also plays a role in the oft-noted differing educational and intellectual levels of liberals and conservatives.

This^ you have to be willing to listen to a variety of reporting to see the slant...I think conservatives are only open to one view...I also think that on the opposite side of the spectrum there is a group that thinks hater site is an authority on news reporting

No not at all if we are considering the liberal as being open to both fox and hater site just to see the spread on a topic as well as everything in between

Someone that tunes in to only hater site may be considered not different than an exclusive Fox News viewer just on opposite sides

The nonsense articulated on sites such as hater site is not liberal at all. It's largely the sound of the forces of black ignorance, the equivalent of Rush Limbaugh's audience on the white racial continuum. Black reaction, and deserving of the same treatment as white reactionary thinking.
