Haven't had a bad red from any except sometimes the Penedes can be a little bit heavy on the tannins. Most are blends of 4+ varieties. The best was a Quinta do Crasto - rocked my world.

Idris Elba will be the next James Bond(after Daniel Craig finishes with Come And Dive which is a working title). Rush Limbaugh is livid. But that is not his call. He just has an opinion. But if he knew the real story behind Ian Fleming's fictional character and the place he had in the history in the spy world, he'd shut the hell up.

Ian Fleming's James Bond was based on the true exploits of Dusko Popov. Popov was a Yugoslavian who joined the British military and their intelligence department. Under the command of Fleming, Popov was to be a double agent. He had to pass information to both sides. For the Germans, he passed just enough info to whet their appetites. And he played the role of a playboy and romanced many beautiful women, including actress Simone Simon. He had had information regarding a Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor(he stated that he tried to inform Washington about it in August), but the U.S. government were not trusting of these intelligence gathering methods and the warning was dismissed. When Fleming wrote and published the James Bond books, and the movies were made, Popov thought that the James Bond of the movies would not survive what he went through in WW2. Most of the books that Ian Fleming wrote were written in Jamaica where he lived. Limbaugh is, as usual, upset that a beloved white hero is going to be a black man. Hell, Bernie Casey played Felix Leiter before Jeffrey Wright. No complaints there, right? James Bond is a British hero like Godzilla/Gojira is a Japanese hero. These two are embraced by the fans around the world who thrilled to their exploits. I think the British would have no problem with Elba since he is a very well respected actor. I guess he would catch hell here because James Bond romances the women. ALL beautiful women. And, it would really disturb the order of things.

Right. It's not as if he's portraying an actual historical character. Besides, until they depict Jesus as an actual Middle Eastern swarthy carpenter rather than a guy from Finland or a session musician with the Allman Brothers Band, they can kiss my arse.

Another good thing about those Portuguese reds: they are a steal! They are generally of high quality and between $8-$10, and rarely higher than $15. I saw one for $25 once...Once.

Sounds good to me. I'm about getting the best value for the buck. Was delighted when I found a good red for $15. Nice to know there are more good deals out there.
