Hence my Nelly comment. Lyricism has nothing to do with commercial sales. If the did, MC Snow would go down as one of the greatest reggae artists of all time :-s
Yessir. Love me a military man who takes charge I'm well aware of my thorough narrow mindedness with regard to music tho. I'm particular about the style I enjoy, can't help it (I've tried lol). Gotta take my music opinions with a grain of salt
Agree 100% It still would be nice to know if a true great other than Pac hit diamond. I know if sales was actually an indicator artists like common would sell more.
Thanks fam that means a lot coming from you. My issue with Pac is he was a good performer with stage presence but his lyrical flow just wasn't hitting it for me. When you listen to Life After Death or Illmatic these are two dudes who are painting vivid pictures with lyrics true artists. Listen to Somebody's Got to Die or Story to Tell or Life's A Bitch and you are taking a journey through music. I listen some of Pac's stuff and yes he was poetic but he didn't move me. I guess its a matter of preference but as far as lyrics eh
As an initial reaction I see where you coming from. I watched it when I was all caught up at work. If you like hip hop this is a battle you want to see.
