The line of attack is "You don't want your movement built around this guy, because he was a thug."

What they don't get is that he is precisely the person upon whom it will be built. If the law doesn't serve the "least of these" then it isn't a law at all. You shouldn't have to be perfect to receive Equal Protection and Due Process.
