I'll date a short girl. But, they're not my preference.
But, I got nothing but love for 5' 7" and above. A tall women seems more like a real woman to me. Short women seem more like little girls. However, it really isn't a big deal. Though I prefer tall, short can work just as well.

5'5 is not short though. It's slightly above average. Average is 5ft 4.
Short is 4'11-5ft to 5ft 2.

I feel like shorter guys may prefer shorter women (so their girls are either shorter or not [much] taller than them), while taller guys may prefer taller women (so the height difference is not too drastic).
Same goes for girls though. A taller chick is kinda limited to taller guys, unless she doesn't mind dating guys who are shorter than she is. I'm about 5'10" but with shoes on (which I tend to wear mostly platforms/wedges/heels), I'm 5'11 and up, and so I'm generally "looking down" at people, lol. But I do prefer men who are taller than me even when I'm wearing my monster boots.
