I did google and all I found was Shawn parcels saying mike brown was shot in the back (false) and that his hands were up

I reallllllllly hope he wasn't the basis of your argument because he was proven wrong by other autopsies and is a fraud

A third grader woulda made a better ME

Again, I realize he was only joking. But the joke had roots in something. I'm sure the joke would not have been said to a white co-worker.

What I'm trying to get across to Archbot, that I realize he is not capable of understanding is that one should not have to conform to a certain standard to expect equal treatment. If someone requires that you look like them, talk like them, and act like them to receive their respect their respect is likely not worth it in the first place.

The way Archbot presents himself here is equivalent to a puppy who sits when master says sit, frantically wagging his tail in hopes for a milkbone or a pat on the head.

Equality should not have to go hand-in-hand with conformity.

EDIT: With that said, if we're talking the work place, I'm confident that everybody here is aware that a company has the right to require that it's employees act, speak and dress in a certain manner as long as those requirements are enforced equally toward all employees. For example, to tell a black employee that he is not allowed to wear his hat backward because it makes him look like a thug, but then allow a white employee to wear his hat backward is blatant discrimination. To say no employee is allowed to wear their hat backward is acceptable.

After overhearing me on a phone call, I've actually had to explain to white co-workers something that many blacks do, a technique that linguistics have named code-switching. It's when we can be all:

"Oh hey there Jimmy, top of the morn to ya" while at work, but then "ay yo, what up dawg... chillin man, chillin..." while at home.

To go from "proper English" to African-American Vernacular English at the snap of a finger.

With regard to cars, my sights are now on the Lincoln MKS. After I got rid of the Audi, I had a motorcycle and a Ram Compensator Truck. Crashed the bike and hate the truck.... can't wait to get back in an actual car.

    Basically

If you want diversity, be real about it and stop shunning people who refuse to completely assimilate

I'm sure ur aware that some people take offense to dreads and the like

    Sad really

That's why I'm digging this natural hair movement

The way you wear your hair should not be indicative of class or intelligence, because you have very witty, classy and intelligent people rocking all types of hair styles

I'm looking at you brotha west and Toni morrison

    :-o

When I started growing my hair, I had cornrows. The dress code policy for the company that I worked for was really vague regarding hair. Something along the lines of 'cannot be past shoulder length' and 'must be kept neat'. One of the managers tried to come at me for having the cornrows, so we ended up going to HR who backed me as I technically was in compliance with the policy.

At this point, I'm fortunate to be at a company that really doesn't care., but I am aware that it may limit my opportunities should I choose to leave.

You know I'm not quite sure why cornrows are frowned upon....

    Oh wait

    Yes I am

In other news.....since I live on broad street

One would have to ask himself what really makes cornrows 'unprofessional'

    That's ok I can wait

Nobody wants to see that "coarse" hair all braided up. I don't like seeing "ethnic" styles

It's perception, really. When is the last time you saw imagery of a well educated, hard working, "well spoken, law abiding BM in cornrows?

Yet, when you take a WW at the same company and send her to the Caribbean. Have her pay ridiculous amounts of money to get her hair braided. Then she comes back to the office with raggedy ass frizzy ass week old braids, everybody wants to comment on how 'cool' they look.

Lol yeah I was thinking that too

When people think cornrows, they think of some nba player who speaks like a 3rd grader that likes to choke coaches and punch other players

I totally feel your point...but like I said...it's nice to see more mainstream people promote our natural hair and stop treating it like a negative

I mean shit, we were born with it just like we were born with our skin tone

Leave it alone because there is nothing wrong with it

Now if you have your own business like me, this is not applicable. ......But if you have to go work for the White man, nothing improves your chances more than adding some colorful barrettes to your cornrows....particularly as a traveling representative for the company........In the business world, accomodating cultural statements will always trump that old cleancut look. .......I also prefer a wife-beater with my cornrows over a shirt and tie. ...

I don't insult and bash Raider and question whether she's even white or what her motives are for being here. And even those who openly argue with her don't do it in every damn discussion thread every day of the week.
