This fact allowed me to live in those states and sleep at night for an administration and a half. But Ferguson ... I know you know racism in a way I could not comprehend, but because I'm white I'm privy to talk ... I hear things that make me feel this discussion is for not; the protests are for not. Battle lines being drawn. The old, the rich, the white ... aren't moved. I'm discouraged cause it's clear to me hearts can't be changed. Hearts weren't burdened that Martin was a child. From what I've heard around dixieland in the past couple weeks .. well, ... I'm shocked but not really. Deeply sad. I hope Ferguson effects change somewhere, or, failing that, that the south remains "irrelevant." Christ have mercy

Interesting post Satchmo. Is it a certain age demographic or do you see this as an across the board thing?

Definitely wouldn't generalize a whole population of people. But get this: with the local elections in tennessee and louisiana, every single democrat (however few) in every local office was voted out. This was a disaster for basic government administration because very good judges, very dearly loved and experienced administrators and politicians who served for 30+ years in office, were voted out by an electorate who had no idea who these incumbents were, no clue as to their record in office, no fathom as to their abilities or character. Rather, the voters in these states overwhelmingly voted in college kids with zero experience to hold high public office and judgeships ... because they had an "R" by their name. Because they "hate" Obama. I'm not fuckin kidding.

But that's just to illustrate. What I was alluding to was things I heard said by admittedly old white rich men ... sh*t I heard stopped me in my tracks. So yeah, it is a demographic ... the stereotypical one in these states ... but they're the plantation owners fam ... lol ... it's not like New York here ....

Sometimes I think we are too dumb to go on as a species. We're too emotional and short sighted and this bs high school popularity contest is going to hurt most and they're still gonna scratching their heads trying to figure out what happened. I really can't blame the elite for looking down their noses at the rest of us when people are so dumb that they actually vote against their own interests and think it doesn't matter like they're voting for the next American Idol. Smh

Shit New York isn't like New York. Take a drive up to upstate NY and you'll see what I mean. It's like the south is literally everywhere.

Trivia Lost in the shuffle. ....The protests which included burning and looting were done "In the name of Michael Brown".....It just so happens that 90% of the targeted buildings were black owned. .....Also "In the name of Michael Brown", Flood Christian Church was burned to the ground. ...It just so happens to be the church that Michael Brown's parents attended. ...... was it really all for Michael Brown ?.....

And who told you that burning down anything and looting was in the name of anything other than greed and opportunity. Quit spreading that bs Arch, this ridiculous and never ending need to put a "spotlight" on the follies of what happened is annoying at best. So Mr. Tell It Like It Is how do you feel about the use of tanks and rubber bullets on citizens who were peacefully protesting at the very beginning of this?
    Take your time I'll wait.

    Pitiful old dude.
Rioting and looting happens worldwide everyday...it's happening now in China..Greece burned for 6 weeks straight a couple years ago..because a cop shot a kid of a motorcycle.

Stop trying to place this all on black people and get some self esteem while you still can.

Too bad we don't have a system of reward and punishment for people like you.

You'll look good in one of those flaming south african necklaces.

Yeah TDK, haven't you yet learned anything?? We must learn the white man to gain his trust so that he can elevate us and reward us. Abandon your beliefs, your convictions and anything that makes you 'you' and the all-powerful white man will reward you beyond your wildest dreams.

Sell your soul, become the acceptable negro. There are far greater rewards awaiting you.

I remember when I got my first Audi. I pulled up to work the day after in my eyeglasses which I rarely wear., I was just having issues with my contacts at the time. My manager made a comment along the lines of asking if I wore the glasses so people would not think I stole the vehicle. I recognize that he was trying to make a joke, but the joke was inappropriate and rooted in bigotry. Oh, if only he recognized that I was wearing a tie, dress pants, dress shoes and eye glasses. If only he recognized that I was not only his highest potential, as well as highest paid employee. If only he recognized that I was team lead for global infrastructure services to Engineering. If only he recognized those things.... If only...

And if I call him Uncle Ruckus is that an insult or an actual depiction of his character and ideology?
