Arch if you think I'm not hip to the game after over a decade of private education you aren't paying attention fam. I don't even discuss my thoughts about race with close friends let alone people in a position to help me advance. The steady stream of white girlfriends along with a Westchester address and private school pedigree makes me "one of the good ones" but it doesn't make me blind to the game because I've seen first hand how quick a good house negro can lose his status after forgetting his place. Michael Steele is a great example of that. Dude was one of the hardest core GOP conservatives I've ever witnessed but all that shit stopped when he stepped out of line and they quickly reminded him who he was when he was majority leader.

It was such a good article because I've had this conversation with others several times. It's a weird kind of privilege because you're acutely aware of it in contrast to other privileges people aren't forced to think about. And being aware makes you confront the fact that it can be easily taken away even though it was decades of work in the making.

 

Yeah, it sucks, but let's use it as fuel to get organized, not as something that brings us down. All workers, both genders, ethnic minorities, all the oppressed. We have a common goal and need to work together to realize it.

Yeah, it's a tragedy. Two black teens and a Latino teen in an unrelated (i.e. non-Ferguson) incident were effing with the guy and banging on his car. When he got out to confront him, they beat him with hammers and other blunt objects. It's effing horrible, and even worse, white Americans are using it to racialize the Bosnians. Heretofore the St. Louis Bosnian population didn't attribute violence as a racial issue, being that they came from an all-white civil war of a war atrocity scale, but the steady stream of race warriors today is making that change.

 

Yeah so sad, I read reports of them protesting in the streets but for what exactly? The criminals were apprehended and will absolutely go to jail so what is the protest about? No more white death?
Interesting is that everyone is demanding that they put the race of the perps in the headline. Again I don't understand for what? Are people truly that simple and basic?

 

Dude, it's St. Louis. I was born there. And yes, they are that basic. Why do you think I left? It takes very little prodding to egg them on. I just hope that the Bosnians as a community do not succumb to the knee-jerk instinct to react in a nationalist manner. They were one of the few bright points of the city in the 1990s when they first came as refugees.

 

If anyone should know that race has absolutely nothing to do with being treated like shit it's the Bosnians. What was done to them was down right horrific. It's one thing to fight over resources but to try to exterminate an entire people? Wtf is wrong with people. What are we missing that causes this level of unwarranted hate.

 

There aren't enough level-headed people of goodwill to help people make sense of a tragedy. Into the void step those of ill will, ready to take advantage of a people's pain to exploit it to the detriment of another group. The human race has some awesome people, but we also have a ton of shitbums.
