If ww started targeting black men ad naseum over stuff specifically attrritibuted to them, you'd see an entirely different response

It's no use trying to get through to some of them...it's best just to leave the forum and not be a part of the pity parade

Or

whatever you can attribute to blacks specifically...if people are making threads about white oppressors and how racist whites are (something no one here has anything to do with hopefully), I'm sure it's fair game to make threads about stuff black men here hopefully aren't taking part in

The topics were posted, but how were they received, particularly by the BM on the forum? Were they a) popular or b) reported? Anyone can start a thread, but you cannot judge the boards entire male contingent by simply the thread title.... actually, I'll go seek out the two threads in question.

Edit: I just read both threads (introductory post on both and a few of the response posts). Both were started by Elklodge who has been a member since '08 and averages 0.17 posts per day. Now, I suppose I have to apologize in advance but while the way the titles were worded could cause one to go on the defensive, I think they were actually pretty good IR discussions. Much better than "interracial porn" and "do you watch interracial porn" and "lingerie/boxers picture thread".or "Celebrity you would like to have a relationship!".

I don't think the two examples that you posted are the ones that have been causing the recent stir around here, however. The ones in question are the Ferguson thread, or any of the 'cop shot another unarmed black teen' thread. The response to THOSE are angry BM (as they should be, as we ALL should be) venting (as is normal) about how society views and treats BM. On a forum that is 50% about BM and the WW who love us, I honestly do not see the issue. I think the closest this forum has gotten to the conditions that some around here are making it seem to be is that one Hydroxide guy who sullied up one of the ego-boost threads. As I recall, the BM ripped him pretty good in that thread. Even he, I felt, had some valid points lost in an atrocious delivery.

While some would argue that this board is not welcoming to WW, my view is that what we are seeing is that some 'black' topics may perhaps be uncomfortable for white participation. In general, I'd go a completely different direction and say the forum it is not welcoming to anyone actually interested in engaging in meaningful conversation. By FAR, the most popular threads on this forum are picture threads of ourselves or people who we don't even know if they have any interest in IR dating. The forum could essentially be replaced by a tumblr at the rate we're going. There's also the borderline narcissist thread that is somewhere around 80% 'thank you for sending me the rep that says you agree with that brilliant thing that I said' combined with 'thank you for liking my pictures'.

I'll pose a question that every member of this forum will be able to answer and each reasonable answer will be both right and wrong.

This is an IR forum....so we talked abput the black race of the men. Have you ever asked whst they go through ad nauseam.

Do we really talk about the relationship part of the IR?

We hate talking about interracial relationship in general unless its about bashing whitey or black women.

I put up a thread sometime ago about IR in general and you guys lost your minds because it was wm and bw.

 

What is there really to say about interracial relationships though? It's the same damn thing as same race relationships except how OTHERS view us.

Are there any questions about interracial relationships that you can ask where the answer would be different from same race?

That's what I'm having a hard time understanding. Outside of the race issue threads, the majority of which from my viewpoint amount to "being black in America is hard"... which is a pretty accurate statement. What is being said around here that makes it so uncomfortable for WW? The two examples provided did not really drive the answer to that home for me.

In both of the threads, he talks about discussions that he's been involved in with people of his own race concerning black and white relations. I've certainly had those in my family and among my friends. My current gf was born in Russia so she's certainly had those conversations in her family. I'd cast a vote for those example threads as being a shining example of what we SHOULD be talking about around here. Just shittily titled. Even if those threads were inflammatory, they were not started by a forum regular and quite frankly they sank faster than a black person swimming (I KID, I KID).

Here's the thing though. Who is it that is not contributing to those threads?

I prefer the getting to know you type of threads, personally. Threads like Tams 'Talents that you'd rather not brag about' or Saty's 'Who are your heroes'. Just going by the popularity of those though, members of this forum generally are lacking depth or interest.
