This is exactly the way I feel As a people, I think we are severely pass due when it comes to showing mercy on our fellow man No one should have this way of life forced upon them, but you either do the hard work and survive or you give up and live on the streets Where's the compassion
Regardless of what motivates someone to do themselves in, it's their decision and they should be afforded a peaceful exit We shouldn't accept the fact that people have to devise violent and cruel methods in order to move on from this world Forcing people to work or starve is archaic
Not to long ago the govt would make that devision....now just a handful allows you to do so. So is it illegal and can you get arrested in a failed suicide
Let's fix the system so that it will be more rewarding of hard work instead of helping people kill themselves.
No but suicide used to be a crime It probably still is a crime in some countries Helping someone commit suicide is a crime as well It all goes back to kingdoms being judged on how many people they held reign over It's not a good look when ur population wises up and starts offing themselves
Nice to know 'the people' would rather look at brain splattered walls or other gruesome scenes than help people leave in a peaceful manner, on their terms What else could we expect from a society that laughs at homeless people
"The people" should have nothing to do with it. Tt's the decision of "the doctor" whether or not they want to help them do it. It is an extremely personal decision and "the people" should have less than nothing to do with it.
But what if you don't want to work This is the point I'm trying to make No one chooses to be born yet they are forced to work for a living, or suffer in the streets Ostracizing people for being 'lazy' when they never wanted to be here in the first place is ridiculous
I am fine with her decision. I even said I may have done the same if I were in her shoes. Please reference my post on page one. In the ladder post I was making a point in reference to what Petty and Jasiee were talking about. They brought a broader scope to the discussion.
If we make this practice legal then we must allow any practice or business to be legal as long as the customer or patient is willing to pay. That means opening up the flood gates. I think that more people wouldn't mind working if it were more beneficial to their well being. Its natural to want to live, but some people may want to die simply because they are tired of their spirits being broken. That's why I think we should fix the bullshit that's wearing down on them before we start making it easy for them to kill themselves.
I respect that I also respect the idea that no one should only have the plausible options of working for a living, or living on the streets as a bum It's like society is condemning people for a decision (birth) they played no part in
It's because most are too stupid or too scared to recognize the source of their anguish and to do anything about it
I am sorry that this woman, so young and full of hope and promise , had to suffer the way that she had. I have no issue with her decision. I am not in judgement of her decision. My mother , in her Christian way says that she should have waited and suffered and God would've healed her by the time or would've have eased her suffering as she dies. I explained that her pain was too intense for her to wait. And her husband was with her as she died. There are those folks who believe that she gave up all hope and is not in Heaven. The issue of suicide is viewed as selfish and cowardly. And in some cases, suicide, to protect secrets, lives or in the case of those whose duty is to retain individual honor like the Samurai, suicide(seppuku or harikiri) is considered honorable. But in this case, I guess Brittany wanted to spare her family a lot of financial grief as well as her own pain. I am sure that she has made her pact with God in this decision. I am sure that she had talked with God everyday before she died. Every person's relationship with God is different, in my humble opinion. As to the doctor that assisted, I am sure that he/she is aware of what they're doing and is aware of the sacred commandment to "Do no harm." There will be no doubt that this issue will be discussed and debated for years to come. May her husband and family find strength and comfort in the life that she had lived. May she Rest In Final Peace.
