    Any darkskinned brothas on here?

If so being a darkskinned bm myself have a bw or hispanic woman ever
call you black and ugly, black as hell, burnt, etc. because your darkskinned and just straight up dissed you?

Because I have a friend who has been dissed like that and it's not that he is ugly he is what you call pretty dark it's just alot of females aren't attracted to darkskinned brothas. So he told me he was get with a white honey like me, but no "go" there either so as of late the females that are attracted to him he has been doing them like that mike jones song you
know "back then they didn't want me, now Im hot they all on me." and playin them just being a little cold and stand offish towards females.

And I notice over the years in interviews that alot of the darkskinned brothas in entertainment uses that mike jones thoery with women. Because they said females always said they were to damn black for them. Terrel Owens, Eddie Murphy, Michael Clarke Duncan, 50 cent, seal, morris chestnut, including myself when I was a teenager.

So to all the darkskinned brothas is it harder and frustrating to get with
a female when you are to damn black for her? Any of ya'll ever had this problem?

I'm not particularly dark per se, but i'm not light skinned either. I have a more reddish brown tint. Almost everybody in my family has that strange complexion. It's weird. Anyway, there was this one girl in high school who thought that i was cute, but one time, during a really hot summer (i had gotten a lot darker from playing basketball outdoors), i saw her on the street and she was like "oh, i thought you were a lot lighter skinned than that." She didn't like me anymore after that. I think your darker complexion "might" be an issue in the black community, but from what i've seen, i think a lot of white women really like the dark complexion a lot. Just like how i like the complete contrast in skin tones when i'm looking at a white girl, maybe you're a bit more appealing to them as well if you're a bit darker. Just a theory though.

Personally I prefer med to dark, but that is just me, but I know what you are saying, I have heard some say they wouldn't date someone real dark.

For my best friends birthday a couple years ago.. I almost wavered my never mess with a friend rule.. because she wanted a threesome but was afraid to do it with anyone but me.. and I said I'd only do it with someone Black and she was like, OK, but he can't be dark dark..

But most of the guys at the time I talked to were very dark.. so it never materialized..

I know you aren't necessarily looking for a woman's response but I will give you mine...my man is so dark he almost glows blue. i am more attracted to darker skinned men. The darker the better! I don't know why...I just love the dark men! Med amd light are good too, but I LOVE my dark skinned men! :smt049 :smt055 :smt060

You bring up something interesting with your friend saying that.
To the fellas on here, whether you are darkskinned or lightskinned to
brownskinned....Do you feel it is discrimination what her friend said
and do you think any non-black woman who feels that way and strongly about our skin tone (whether you be dark, med, light) to be just as a bigot
as bw are when alot of them put down darkskinned brothas.

I personally feel from my experience with the hatred I faced from
black and latina women who said they like bm but Im too damn dark
to be double talk with a bit of bigotry(just a bit) esp. with alot of sistas...they'll dismiss my black ass in a minute and the bw who I was dating at the time for being with someone that dark but soon as they see me with a ww Im a sellout to them. If you are attracted to bm I feel that
the phrase "I like bm" shouldn't be generalized like that if you don't won't a certain complection of a brotha talking to you.....But I will never do what
brian(my friend) do and diss all because it aint all, it just happens to be alot.

    I absolutely think its discriminatory....

and it bugged me.. but to be honest, I was surprised she said light to medium was ok.. so I figured/hoped it was a first step to maybe not caring..

    8) Hasn't been a problem for me ever. Either they've liked me or not and I consider myself dark skinned about Martin Lawrence's complexion even though I don't favor him at all.

Although my skin isn't dark-skinned, nor light-skinned, I see what you mean. I've even heard jokes about Native Africans regarding their dark-skinned black color from various American black folks before, and it seems that if the guy is an African, the comments from American blacks will be nastier, but with white Americans, the comments tend to be nicer...

and, I don't think that needs any further elaboration. (at least NOT in THIS site)

Kenny, you shouldn't worry about it . . . now. You have a choice on what woman you want black or white. Back in the day (60s and 70s) the light skinned brothers were in demand by the black women and because of self-hatred the black women (and black men) lashed out on each other.

The men that you mention above and a few others like Dennis Rodman decided they had enough of these petty black women and decided to go the other opinion and either chosen white women or light skinned black women as their mate, wife or girlfriend when the became successful.

The only people who should be embarrassed are the women who taunted their "darkness" when they were young.

Just hold your head up high when you walk down the street with the woman you choose whether she is white or black.

 I don't exactly believe that Rodzilla's problems with black women stemmed from his skin tone :!: The brotha just ain't the best in the looks category from what I can see...lol! And that's no disrespect to the ROD-MAN at all.

Thats why Im glad Im not single no more because it must be tough esp. for the brothas out here in the dating world, because alot of women tend to be specific in what complection they want (no matter what race) in a black man in their head, but when it comes out of their mouth it is generalized as in "I like bm". Having brothas of all complections thinking your talking about them until you find they don't want your black ass or light ass.

I've been on a lot of boards the past 3/4 yrs of WW who date BM. I can tell you of the women I have gotten to know on those boards, it is really rare if they that they are picky about skin tone. Usually most WW I know, date BM because they like BM, point blank.

I'm not sure if BW are fussier about skin tones. Most of us WW just appreciate any skin contrast to our own.

    Color

I have to admit I have a skin tone preference. Dark. Very Dark. Burnt toast dark. Shimmery, shiny, sleek, opaque, black. Yup, it is a semi fetish.

As a dark black man I have had "issues" but it was mostly when I was younger in the 80's.
I learned about the "paper bag test" in high school [all black school] and it was not fun.

If this is still a big thing in the black community I don't hear about it as much as I use to but then again I try to only deal with open-minded people so it may not be an issue with my circle of friends.

It's sad but I remember well.

Daphne: let's observe a moment of silence, and then hold up a glass of dark Merlot for the dark lot of us everywhere !!!!!!!!

-- "Blessed are the bold for they shall inherit the dark ones" .... I don't know who said it ... but I feel like it should be said.

The paper bag or paper sack test is where someone is deemed worthy based on how light are dark they are compared to the color of a paper bag.

If I may open up a little bit here:
In the 10th grade, there was this girl that I really liked. So we're at a house party [it's a 80's thing] and I'm spending some time with her and I'm thinking everything is going okay.
Someone shouts out “Give it up man! She'll never talk to you because you're dark than a paper sack!
    She starts laughing.

    You got love it!!!
