There is envy and resentment against well-educated black people, which I believe marks the emergence of similar class distinctions you find between privileged and working class whites. I don't believe it to be as extensive as Barkley portrays it but is still a problem. Class envy will continue to rear its ugly head as black women outpace black men in the attainment of college degrees, and the black underclass repeats the same life strategies that failed their parents.
Yes, it's out there. I got it big time. But, I don't see it holding back anyone black who wants something out of life. Seiously, has it held back anyone here? While it is an issue, it's not really that big of a deal and actually only a symptom of a larger problem.
