The VA hospital in D.C. deals with mentally disturbed vets all the time who sometimes lose it waiting to be seen by a doctor.

There's never been a mentally ill vet that I know of gunned down at the DCVAH.

What happens usually is a VA security officer with about 4-5 hospital workers physically try to subdue the guy, then walk him out somewhere and SIT HIM DOWN and try to keep him calm, until a psychiatrist can come and give him a sedative.

That video was a murder/execution for no reason.

It's like some cops are really in it to legally kill civilians.

I once talked to a Vietnam vet at the DC VA hospital and he explained to me why some men volunteer to join the military. He then told me there's a small percentage of cats who signed up to fight in Vietnam because they were in their hearts killers; he told the best place to be if you want to shoot a stranger in the head and get away with it is seeing combat.

I agree with Bliss, where were the damn tasers and rubber bullets??

We're talking about a human life here, why not take the extra effort to make sure we don't kill an innocent for no damn good reason??:smt095

I lose respect for law enforcement as an institution more and more everyday.

It's like the only thing POs are taught at the academy is target practice.

Conflict resolution?? Situational assessment?? Disarming and subduing a single suspect with a minor weapon when you outnumber him 7 to 1??

I understand shooting to neutralize a threat because face it, who wants to leave their family without a husband or mother because some nutjob decided that today was the day police officers looked like zombies from the walking dead....

But watching the video...u can clearly see that the gaggle of officers had that situation fully under control for an extended period of time (who would fear for their life with that many fellow cops around against one man armed supposedly with a knife)

With that said, those officers could have devised a plethora of on the spot tactical maneuvers to make sure that everyone lived

But no, it just looks like they skipped any effort at using their minds and just went straight hammer on dude

It's sad how people are praising the cops left and right, without questioning such heavy handed methods

 

Have you ever heard of the murder of Kelly Thomas, a homeless young man who was stopped by cops as he was walking, whom they subsequently beat to death?

It was all caught on camera....

I actually watched the whole murder, because I wanted to KNOW, what exactly drives a so-called cop to murder another man for nothing.

What I witnessed was a young, non-combative innocent man..at the end, crying out for his father as he lay dying in his own blood....

Kelly Thomas was the son of a police officer.
