The BSO, at that time, under Sheriff Nick Navarro, were on a moralistic crusade because they heard a rumor that there was prostitution, illegal drug use and dealing in the club. I did not think that went on in the club. I wanted to go in once. But it was on a Friday night and the place was packed. The door man told me that it costs $75.00 to enter. This place was pretty secure. It was featured in CBS' 48 Hours program in the 90's. They interviewed a couple who lived in the area. Lawyers representing this and other adult establishments had all of BSO's claims in their case dismissed in court.
I remember when i arrived in Ghana fresh from London with a bad ass New York attitude after living there for 4 years. I talked back at a teacher and i was whipped with a cane on my butt 6 times and i went home to tell my Father. He asked me what i did and i told him i didn't do anything and he didn't say anything. The next day he went with me to school and was told i was smart mouthing the math teacher and my Father with the calmness of a surgeon told the teacher to whip me six more times. I never spoke back to a teacher till my final year when i knew i was about to finish high school. Now THAT was discipline
Yes. They were cleared. The BSO doesn't go into the swing clubs anymore. They raid massage parlors now(based on anonymous tips from the public or disgruntled employees). Yet, they don't go into the adult shops with the viewing rooms. There are gay hustlers who hang around the halls and sometimes in the parking lot. I remember one place a guy set the viewing area on fire and it was caught on camera. The arsonist was never apprehended.
