GL, I think you misconstrued my statement earlier, whereby you dragged me into the debate you had with RA.... I really don't want to have to read all tens of pages of posts to be sure if my comment applied to your POV, or not, lol.

On a different (related?) note, Iggy seemed to change up her reason for her debut album title, which people took issue with.

I remember her saying 'The New Classic' means that she is what HIP HOP is today. And that her music is instantly classic. I was trying to find her quote when I found her giving a different one altogether...

    --------

Iggy Azalea defends her album title on "Hip Hop POV."

During an appearance on "MTV's Hip Hop POV," Grand Hustle artist Iggy Azalea defended naming her upcoming album The New Classic.

“I think that people think of classic and they think of, like, a Nas record or a Jay-Z record or The Chronic,” said Azalea, who was criticized by the show's panelists for her album title choice.

“What makes something classic is when you hear it and you have that moment that is a time capsule, and you can remember what you were doing," she added.

"When I say The New Classic, I just want to make records that give you that moment for fans that they can remember where they were when they heard it.”

Not true really. Otherwise The Beastie Boys or Eminem would have been shunned, when the opposite was true.

BTW, this comment from him is misguided..

"She has a vision for herself and this vision she will not compromise, you know, she has a certain idea of how to present herself, how to platform her art and she won’t compromise it so I think she should be kind of judged based on that rather than her creed, her nationality, what country she from…

...because Iggy previously went to London and performed dance music. They didn't even know her as hip-hop there. Her excuse was that she had to do dance music in order to make money... so whatever. She blows with the wind, IMO.

I do not think Amy Winehouse is a soul singer since she just sing soul in a pop setting plus, she does not hang with brothers except her back-up singers. As for Iggy, she just a clown with inhanced Black features. Not a lot of White women looked like her, thank goodness.

Amy Winehouse grew up in a household that played a lot of jazz, soul and r&b music. Her father introduced all of that to her family when they were growing up. I saw her last live performance video. She was singing Lloyd Price's Stagger Lee. Sadly, she didn't look very well while she sang it. During the instrumental solos, she chatted with the black bass player in her band. Amy was not like all the other singers in 2005-06. She didn't sound like them, either thank God. The name of the game is to capture the support of female listeners and the imagination of male admirers. A fantasy. It is nothing new. Iggy is just acceding to this demand from male admirers. It's about image and income.

Maybe G,but she is not like Joss Stone who is much better than her in the realm of soul and r&b. Plus,Winehouse looked fine in her early years but, messed up way too soon like a inked up punk star singing like a Black person.
