How important is it to you to date a similar faith??

Alessa and I were discussing dating Muslims in another thread.. so I thought I'd pull up a new thread more on dating another faith here.. because it certainly is a topic that could go in many directions..

ok.. my experience with dating a Muslim is that I wouldn't again. Not because I don't' respect their faith. Anyone who has a faith in their God, I do respect. However, I have found the mix difficult.

One.. I love Christmas.. its hard if you can't share it. I'm like a little kid and Christmas time.. I really glow with smiles. Its a big deal to me, so not being able to do presents and all that.. well it puts a cloud on it. I though I wouldn't mind.. but I guess I did.

Pork.. oh man.. I love baking ham dinners and that is a definite no no.. plus bacon.. and I'm sorry.. but there is no way beef bacon compares to pork bacon!!!

So.. what experiences have you had negatively or positively when dating someone of a totally different belief system than yours?

Well thanks for starting this thread Sassy.

So far it has been a positive experience since we both compromise. But for him being a Muslim his family is ok with it because I am "of the book"--"book" meaning Muslim, Christian or Jewish---but his sister wouldn't be allowed to date someone outside the faith because she is a Muslim woman. Anyways back on track....

We have similarities and I always find it easier to relate to someone who is religious then not, because I believe faith is an important aspect in every person's life.

Would I prefer if my man and I had the same faith? Most defineatly....but I fell in love with him and I would never ask him to change and I know he wouldn't ask me to either. I respect him too much to do that.

So my experience has been good so far.....anyone else?

    Just imagine a world...

    Without interracial relationships...
Without the blending old sounds to new ones to make beautiful music
Without the enriching exchanges between ppl of different backgrounds
With ppl only marrying ppl of their own faith!!

The best description of a NIGHTMARE!!!!

hi, it is not important for me to be with someone of the same faith. i was raised in a non orthodox jewish/ christian home. i have been in relationships with men of varying religions and have learned alot from these experiences. i am non religious but am interested in other people's opinions and what they believe in.

the important thing is the faith in God. and no matter how we call Him. God, Allah etc. He is only one, He is our Father and He loves all of us! and I believe that its always God who makes ppl to meet each other. so, thats why, the religion is not important for me. and as for the traditions and stuff, I think, the best solution is celebrating of all the holidays! :D

    faith

I agree with you Tuckereed. It is very important to me also. They must be a Christian-but they do not have to be the same denomination .

    hello

I live in Arkansas close to Memphis. I lived in Dallas for many years. Nice to see a man who can think for himself! ( and that respects other's opinions who differ from him)(some of these people on here make you feel terrible if you don't agree with them).!
