I think that this one is a close call. I get the joke that the artist was trying to make but seriously...out of all the flavors of toothpaste that could have been chosen for that joke he went with watermelon? Come on, man.

Of course. You could have made the point about lax security at the White House simply by having the guy in the bathroom period. He could have asked him to hand him a towel, commented on the playoffs, even offered suggestions for some international issue,, and the point would have been made. Watermelon? That's just gratuitous. The only way it could have been worse would have been with a reference to either chitterlings or fried chicken.

Heck he could have offered the president pointers on how to guard the white house. lmao

but I have to agree with poj. I don't understand how some people can not know about racially insensitive words. I'm willing to bet that this an old guy set in his ways.

    Indeed.

What's worse is, the author is a fucking coward. If you're going to insult someone, at least let it fly and stand behind it. This asshole has to feign niavety. Some how some way he thought he could be bold like that and not get called out, like the Internet is a small place and enough people dislike the president and what happened enough that he wouldn't get caught up.

Yeah right. He had no idea it would offend anyone. He's not a racist. Some of his closest friends are black....blah blah blah. I agree that he has to be older. That type of entitlement smacks of baby boomers.

You know if it was some young buck, I'd give them some leeway just because they're coming up in a different era

Maybe they genuinely didn't see how offensive it would be

Kinda like a cartoon of the first family eating a bucket of KFC just like any other American family

But if this was a mature, older person that's fucking lived in the US for a long time, I'd say they were dead wrong

    Seems logical

The editor is a dumbass then, assuming their job required them to be knowledgeable of race in america
