too late to tell you but avoid seagate. They got bought out by maxtor whose HDD often died. You can't tell if seagate or maxtor made them although the barrcudas were good don't know now

Almost every western digital has died on me.

    I only trust hgst.

I use Western Digital and they haven't failed on me at all. So, maybe you should invest in one.

The backup is the one that died. I never store sensitive files on my laptop or desktop for that reason. I always keep my external hard drive safe at home in storage for precisely that reason.

    Thanks.

Uh oh...so one vote for Western, one against.

Anything digital can be retrieved don't fret my friend.
Always remember redundancy from this point on since the files you described were small you can have multiple back ups for little money.
If money is an issue I suggest finding a do it yourself tutorial or going on a message board for techs and seeing what happens there

Maybe the quality down here is better since a lot of people use it and they had no problems with it. And durability is pretty lengthy.

I've had quite a bit of luck with retrieving my files off of broken drives. What exactly is it doing or not doing? Is it making strange noises? Is it getting hot? Don't pay for anything more, just yet. I may be able to talk you through it.

Post exactly what drive it is, also. I need serial numbers and the like.

RDJ Will Do IRON MAN 4 if MEL GIBSON Directs.

An extended and revealing interview with Deadline gave fans an inside look at Robert Downey, Jr.’s career and what he thinks about playing Iron Man.

The actor says that Iron Man 3 took him out of a “five year flight of fancy” that he could remain an action star. A busted ankle on the set of that movie made him feel his age, and know his time was short. “Looking back, I’m surprised and really embarrassed that some middle aged guy was thinking like that. And I honestly don’t think like that presently. But I also know that it could happen again, this bit of a hypnosis that would make someone think that way.”

"I also think about how much easier it was to remember on this last Avengers [Age of Ultron] that I’m 20 years older than pretty much everyone there," the actor said. “That’s pretty much the cast. Ruffalo and I are a little closer in age and maybe Spader has a couple years on me, but you know what I mean.”

Speaking specifically on Iron Man 4, Downey backtracked ever so slightly on his "won’t do Iron Man 4" statements of the past, instead saying that his relationship with Iron Man is "all being talked about on a bunch of different levels right now." He was first very praising of Marvel Studios and specifically their president, though.

"Marvel keeps stepping up its game, and I appreciate the way Kevin Feige and all the creatives there think. They are as in the creative wheelhouse as any great studio has been at any point," said Downey. That leads him to look at things both from his own perspective and from Marvel’s. “So it becomes a matter of, at what point do I cease to be an asset to what they’re doing, and at what point do I feel I am spending so much time either shooting or promoting these films that I’m not actually able to get off the beachhead and do the kind of other stuff that is good for all of us. Each one of those movies is spread over two years and some people fit other things in.”

Citing his age, as he’s about to turn 50, and the fact that he’ll also soon have two young children (with one toddler and another on the way), as well as the films he’s producing with his wife as all being contributing factors to the “points of departure,” Downey did seem to still indicate that his journey as Tony Stark is nearing its conclusion.

Of course, after discussing his friend Mel Gibson, who he says is both repentant for his outspoken and anti-Semitic comments and has also “changed,” Downey offered up a scenario where he’d do Iron Man 4: if Gibson directed it. “Why not? That movie would be bananas,” he ended the interview.

Mel Gibson is a racist and anti-Semitic.

I will not be watching this ironman 4.

Tired of the racist getting another shot.

    Somebody didn't read.

Mel Gibson is not actually directing Iron Man 4. There are no plans for an Iron Man 4. RDJ was being sarcastic about what it would take to get him to do an Iron Man 4 movie.

RDJ had recovered from drug addiction with the help of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Wing Chun helped him in his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, who was fiction's first martial artist. He enjoys being a jerk at times. But he does turn in a great performance in his films. He and Mel Gibson are friends and he understands Mel and his problems. If Mel Gibson directed Iron Man 4, God only knows how it would turn out. Tony Stark's story would probably be revised in Gibson's vision.

Marvel/Disney are interested in keeping the Marvel Cinematic Universe making money so no way would they ever bring in a lightning rod like Gibson on board for any movies, especially as director.

As far as any Iron Man 4 plans, only two possible storylines would work : Iron Man finally facing the real Mandarin, since the Marvel One Shot on the Thor : Dark World Blu-Ray revealed there is an actual real Mandarin operating or Iron Man vs Ultimo, the giant alien doomsday robot. Probably throw in Fin Fang Foom somehow if they do the Mandarin.

Those two scenarios seem plausible, especially encountering the Mandarin in the flesh like in the comics and a battle with Ultimo would be an epic battle that would last longer than the battle between Thor and the Destroyer in Thor's first film.

sorry I didn't add the if he directs it. I wasn't indicating that he was going to direct it. My comments were from expendables where I first saw he was given an opportunity to fix his career and if he got a chance at directing this.
