That NYC swagger was also why Bugs Bunny was and still is so popular. Mel Blanc, the vocal genius behind Bugs Bunny and other beloved Warner Brothers cartoon characters, used many NYC accents to give Bugs Bunny the attitude he is known for.
Like I said earlier, you're drinking the kool-aid. You're using that simple logic of because Iggy Azalea & the majority of current artists marketed as "Hip Hop" are getting radio play they must be talented artists and therefore "legit" and anyone not getting radio airplay must clearly not be talented otherwise they would be on the radio. Therefore Rah Digga and anyone else not getting radio play should just shut up and not express any opinions about any artists currently on radio, especially any opinions that are critical of their talent on any level. And you're basing your views simply on this one article & what was said in it rather than having a complete understanding of the whole dynamics of Corporate vs Independent artists in any way. You did the exact same thing when you made that "White Dudes Are Better Rappers Than Black Dudes" thread some time back.
Most popular music these days are crossing over into many genres. Country sometimes crosses into pop, rock, or blues. Gospel crosses over to pop and r&b and sometimes jazz. Jazz crosses over into pop, contemporary orchestral works, World music, rock and fusion. Gospel tries to appeal to all musical tastes, including r&b, jazz, country, rock, orchestral, rap and hip-hop. Rap is going through this phase, too. Soon, all musical genres will no longer be categorized and will form music that will appeal to every taste.
And that's all by design of the corporate run record labels & their partners the corporate owned radio stations. Why cater to a music listen audience with varied musical tastes with various music genres when you can just manufacture a single all encompassing music genre in order to appeal to everyone thus guaranteeing you will make money.
Of course I don't want it to happen and it won't, but if you ever split with your girl I'm there in a NY minute. lol
1. You are so wrong its beyond belief. You cant even define hip hop. I can tell cause u keep dodging the question. Where in any of my points did i say anything about corp. That was u. She said iggy is not hip hop I didnt put those words in her mouth. Digga put herself out there. I didnt. I nor digga said anything about qualifying or quantifying iggy due to coorporation status. Doesnt matter if you are independent or corporation .. .you cant still be hip hop. Im questioning digga on how in the hell she can say shes not hip hop because she rap w/o an accent but talj in one and she doesnt rap about aussie. Thats bull shit. If thats the case digga is not hip hop on some levels and if you want to go off defining things then rap is not music. You are the one interjecting the corporation issue.
Not to get off topic, but I keep trying to rep you two and others but always get the "spread it" block. It feels the same as the "insufficient funds" buzzkill.
I said digga is hating on her success. Period. Hell ypu can be successful and be independent. She chose to be independent. You said she got screwed...what that got tp do with this thread? What does her being independent gpt to do with whp is hip hop or not? It doesnt make sense. Iggy to me is just hip hop as digga. Hell, digga brought up about " that life" Grandmaster flash could say the same about 50 , luda, cube and ect... Gmf can easily say 99% if not all of the rappers are not hip hop. No dj, and rapping about bs thus no substance.
I already pointed out your basing all your rhetoric on a single interview. If all you want to do is have a meaningless back and forth on what is or is not Hip Hop based on one person's statements about another in a single interview, then stop wasting my time by acting as if you have some perspective on the topic, because you clearly don't.
Dude you full of shit. I said digga was hating on her succes. That was you bringing that weak ass shit bout one is corporate and the other indy. I dont give a fuck about corporation or indy. Modification: cube is hip hop his is just corporatipn as hammer was. Real hip hop died after p.e and arrested development if you want to be technical. Cube is hip hop but hes not rocking it like that. Digga just hating. End of story.
Ah. I see. So this is your expert opinion? But Rah Digga shouldn't say Iggy Azalea is not Hip Hop however? But I'm the one full of shit.........
If you look back to Dolly Parton, who was more famous for her breasts and smile, more so than her singing talent. She was country but she found commercial appeal in pop(however, she still remained country even though her songs crossed over into pop). Amy Grant, a gospel singer went to pop for a while. The Oak Ridge Boys started in gospel(and are still in it as well as country), has also crossed over into pop. LeAnn Rimes was country and her music crossed over to pop. The Dixie Chicks remained country and disbanded after they won five Grammys for their albums amid severe criticism. They gave their detractors a five time slap in the face when they won. Now Taylor Swift left country for good for pop. I think Taylor's leaving from Nashville to New York City was a good move for her. Another country artist, who happened to be a closeted lesbian for many years(I forgot her name) moved to New York to be herself and write and perform her music. Some time ago, country-western stations in Europe wanted artists to record more music to appeal to European tastes(the addition of more string orchestras). Sometimes, these artists want to go to pop because they want a broader audience(they would like to see faces other than white in attendance at their concerts) because they know that their songs can appeal to other races, too. This is what the record companies know and understand. In the areas of country and hip-hop, I think the artists want to reach a wider audience and stay true to whom they are and where they are from. There was a reality show about a white man who combined his love of country-western and rap called Big Smo. In one episode he had a well known name from rap recording a song with him. I guess if you were the big shot at a record label, you'd at least try to look forward in terms of the projections in sales and airplay.
Okay. So why are you mad at her and claiming she's a dumbass for saying Iggy isn't Hip Hop then if by your own expert opinion real Hip Hop is dead? By your own words you agree. Remember. Live & die by your words........
Lol...i guess if u r corporate u are hip hop. Ra...define hip hop. Is it really music? Are they really artist?
