What about Native Americans? No one is beheading them for being Native American or shooting them for being Native American.
Dude I don't side with Flamming about much but seriously look around the world. Nas said it best "the darker you are the realer your problems" He should have added the nappier your hair is and the wider your nose is because I've seen many of Indians as dark as me who look down their noses at us because our people buy their hair.
Ultimately the entire human race is insane, literally fucking crazy since this is the shit we focus on while global warming gets out of control and people are starving when we have more than enough food to go around.

Which is interesting since I don't see a strong Native American presence when blacks are being shot the fuck up. I'm not saying that other groups don't have or had it bad. Native Americans imo are right up there with us in terms of who the worst part of the shit stick in this country but globally people don't despise and proactively inflict harm on anyone else the way they do blacks.
Even amongst other poor "minorities" we are hated with such intense vigor it makes your head spin and ironically as a group we hate no one not even our oppressors.

    Hop onto #ferguson

There's no excuse for saying certain groups don't support us, when they obviously do

I've seen asians, Palestinians, all types protesting ferguson world wide

Hell in Hong Kong these guys are using what happened in ferguson as a rally cry against their police

Commentators slow their role when the white witnesses
    Confirmed the black witnesses

In the words of paul mooney, loosely quoting,

Interviewer: White man, why did you kill all those people?

Response: I have 8 different personalities

Interviewer: Fascinating, this needs to be studied

    ------------------

Interviewer: Black man, why did you kill all those people?

Response: I have 8 different personalities

Interviewer: Well, pick which one you want to be motherfucker because someone is going to jail

Hip-hop, to me, has always been it's own worst enemy. It's so concerned with, "You're not real Hip-hop unless you're this ..." or "You're not real Hip-hop unless you're that ..." that it limits itself almost to the point of stagnation.

Also, who determines what Hip-hop is, at any point in time, is the youth. The under 30 crowd. They are the sole arbiters of what is real and what isn't. The rest of us (Raw Digga included) are just old folks measuring current trends in the genre by the outdated musical nostalgia of our collective youth.

In short, you're saying mainstream America essentially killed hip hop?

It's personal preference. Real hip-hop to me might not be what it is to you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
That said., some of y'all need LASIX, ASAP.

Like any music genre, they all wind up trying something new or integrating certain aspects to keep it fresh and trendy. The rap/hip-hop genre is no different. With this new style dubbed hip-pop, it's merely an integration of rhythms and styles of both genres, though with a higher emphasis on hip-hop beats and pacing.

No style of music is the same as it was ten or twenty years ago. It's a matter of new technology and experimental ways to keep genres fresh.

Question; why does Hip-hop have to be about "that life" to be authentic?

That whole line of thought only serves to stagnate the art form.

    What do you mean?

Art generally is expression with inspiration rooted in relevance to the artists view point.

Can the blues truly be authentic if the performer has not experienced hardships?
Can gospel be authentic if the performer is athiest?

Sure, it can be done... but is it authentic?
