depression is a mofo. you will never know who has it. its not like any other disease because you cant see it and no one will tell u because of the stigma.

It's very serious, and many people don't understand just HOW serious depression truly is.

What I don't understand is how he could be in a rehab center last month and no alarm bells went off? He must have hid it extremely well.

I was looking at what other celebrities said about him and some shared pictures they took with him, and I don't think he's smiling in one of those photos. It made me wonder...

What a sad story. It's so ironic that a man who made people forget their sorrows by making them laugh suffered from depression himself. I would forever remember him for the role he played in Mrs. Doubtfire.

its hard for everyone even pros to identify....a person can mask it and you will never know....sometimes or most of the times.

Yep, but there are always signs if people pay attention. And I can understand if every day people don't necessarily see the signs until it's too late, but he was in a rehab center - surrounded by professionals.

It's just boggling my mind that people who work in that environment every day didn't notice something.

Have to wonder if his financial woes were a part of his depression...just another example of how literally 100's of millions can disappear via divorces if one does not take the proper steps to protect themselves.

"Williams' net worth was once estimated to be near $130 million, but in 2013, he admitted to Parade magazine that he was on the verge of bankruptcy after two divorces despite his films grossing more than $5.1 billion worldwide.
"Divorce is expensive," Williams, who was married to his third wife at the time of his death, explained to the mag. "I used to joke they were going to call it 'all the money,' but they changed it to 'alimony.' It's ripping your heart out through your wallet."

I remember hearing about that last summer. That was his reason for going back to TV because he was nearly broke.

His show was good. I was sad to see it was canceled.

I have wondered if the cancellation wasn't the "straw that broke the camel's back".

I read that they found a pocketknife near him, with superficial wounds on his wrists, and that he hung himself with a belt. It sounds like he was bound and determined. So sad that he didn't/couldn't reach out for help instead.

Mayy his ex wives burn in hell because its disgusting how people who didn't earn a single dine can feel so entitled to someone else's money and care so little about what happens to them afterwards. And saying he should have been more careful is no different than saying a woman should know better than to wear short skirts if they don't want to be raped.

My comments about being more careful before marriage in protecting your assets is just acknowledging the realities of alimony and child support laws in present day America, which are especially unfair if you are wealthy/a celebrity. They were not in anyway condoning the laws, just pointing them out as a warning to others. As you know, I deal with athletes and their ex-wives, ex-girlfriends, and baby-momma's a great deal. The rapacious greed exhibited when there is a split and alimony and child support has to be negotiated, at times is enough to drain all faith in humankind.

I first learned of his passing when I was watching a screening of The Giver starring Jeff Bridges. The announcer was doing his interviews of the stars for the primeire and when Mr.Bridges came to the stage he was in tears about Robin Williams and the annoucer said Robin Williams died. The audiance gasped. I was surprised like everone else. Inside the theater in New York Harvey Weinstein said some words about Robin Williams about the film Good Will Hunting as well as Bridges who mentioned Williams in his film The Fisher King. Robin Williams is one of the kind,a comic whose heart is big as a planet. He has that kinetic energy that makes you laugh. I remember one of his idols was the late Johnathan Winters who like him battled depression. It is a shame that disease had engulfed him. I remember him on HBO,Mork and Mindy, and his films. He was a talented human being who gave his all in a performance either in stand up,TV,or the movies. He would be sorely missed by everyone he touched on screen or off.

Did they forget the S to his surname? How unusual for the HWOF.
    (Or maybe it faded? )

I understand that threads get off topic, but I beg you all to please not turn this thread into a "all women are gold digging bitches". Please. I beg you.

Keep this thread about Robin Williams and his legacy.

There are enough threads on this site where you can take that discussion.

    Thank you.

It could very well be linked to why this amazing human being took his life so it applies.
You wouldn't say a word had it been a female actress who was abused until she took her own life. Its plain despicable.

Any excuse you can find to hate on women.

You nor I nor anyone else has any clue why he did what he did.

But to turn this thread into a bashing women thread is despicable.

You've said your piece on this subject a million times over on this board, I think you can let it rest this once. Or start another thread if you just can't shut the fuck up about the topic, which I know you can't.
