    I really love this reply:

“But when we have a fairly good understanding that Hamas is actually using their citizens as shields, at that particular point in time, it loses a lot of the the power, if you will, from my perspective,"

Despite my belief that the "human shield" claim is bullshit, I want to know this:

Why? Why would that have *any* effect on how one feels about these CIVILIAN deaths? How does it make a civilians life worth LESS if they're being used against their will and dying because of that?

“War is a horrible thing,” Perry responded without emotion. “There are individuals who lose their lives in war.”

Yes, Rick Perry, but the individuals who normally die in war are the ones fighting it, not the ones just trying to get their families away from the bombs.

What an asshole this guy is.

Is there anything wrong with not caring about Gaza?

You have a civil war going on in Chicago that's not being addressed.

I don't think you're wrong if you don't care. A person has a right to feel however they feel. It bothers me, as do most injustices around the world, but you can exhaust yourself taking on the worries of the world. The Chicago crime wave bothers me as well, but there seems to me to be some difference between fighting for national liberation versus fighting for control of drug turf. I am still troubled by any senseless death, though.

What I want to know is who is thinking that civilian deaths are worth less if they are used as shields? I don't think anyone is thinking that.

Exactly. Civilian deaths in any armed conflict are tragic losses of life, but deciding whether or not Hamas uses innocent Palestinians as human shields(how is that 'claim' bullshit?? It's a FACT. You don't use apartment buildings, schools, mosques and hospitals as a collective base for your military operations....if you care about not having innocent civilians killed), is about assessing blame for those deaths.

Is Israel most responsible for civilian Palestinian deaths??
    Or is it Hamas??

Some of you have a really short memory historically and don't recall the M.O. of Hamas.

Like dressing up a Palestinian woman to look pregnant with a bomb strapped underneath her gown and getting on board a crowded Israeli commuter bus.:vom:

Civil war my ass. There's a bunch of media hysteria about violent crime in Chicago. In reality, the city's murder rate and overall crime rates are at their lowest in decades.

...and no, you're not wrong for being indifferent TS. None of the people over there, Israeli or Palestinian, give two shits about your black ass or mine.

Exactly. There are too many shitty situations going on at any given time to know and care about them all.

Bullshit statistics made up by Rahm Emanuel and his staff. They re-catergorizedhow they report homicides to make it appear as if the murder rate went down.

Sorry bro, but you've been brainwashed. Despite the hysteria, violent crime in Chicago and every other major city in the US is at record lows.

Where do you think the FBI get their crime starts from?

Numbers is not brainwashed, but you have been hoodwinked. Chicago mag did a 2 part expose on the fudging of numbers to make it appear murder is down. (Posted link in the Chicago crime thread). C'mon now, high-ranking people's jobs are on the line here.

You can be indifferent about any issue, but by the same token don't complain when someone doesn't care when you have to deal with discrimination.
