My take is . . . I agree we have become too PC in this country and as evinced by the Jay-Z vs. Solange Knowles elevator altercation sometimes women can take things too far and you have the right to protect yourself. I am not saying knock her the fuck out but if she goes K-1 Dynam!te/Golden Glory on your ass then is it your fault if she has a glass chin???

Can Rowdy Ronda Rousey hurt you with an MMA combination??? Does her former lover (Anthony "Showtime" Pettis) have the right to defend himself in an Las Vegas elevator altercation with her if she fires on him with a passion?

There are abused boyfriends and husbands out there, but it is very unreported due to pride and ego . . . and we all know it. I believe that the reason that Ray Rice got a two game suspension is because his wife has confessed to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that he has been abused by her throughout the course of their relationship and especially on the elevator on night in question.

Would anyone have believed that Jay-Z is a domestic abuse victim sans that hotel video tape? Well we haven't seen the hotel video tape of what Ray Rice endured from his wife . . . but she has publically accepted responsibility for her role inciting the altercation so that tells me that Stephen A Smith is on the right side of history.

In majority of the cases, men aren't defending themselves... They aren't in danger and they always have the opportunity to walk away. The problem is women need to learn that if you kick a bee hive, don't be surprised when your stung.

It's ridiculous Smith was suspended for basically saying keep your hands to yourself but motherfuckers ain't got no common sense no more.

Great analysis here from 5:30 thru 7:00

Listen to this brotha's take on this controversy. It is a little long but skip to 5:30 and go from there

I have unconditional love for the women in my family and will stand by them regardless . . .

but I agree with his take on Jay-Z vs. Solange :smt043

What are you basing this on other than conjecture?

^^ I am filling in the blanks. We know that she was interviewed by Roger Goodell and she would have had to have told him something which would mitigate the punishment he deserved for the damage (Rice) did to the Shield and NFL brand for him to receive a two game suspension in my educated opinion.

They surely discussed his history with her and if this was an aberration or a pattern of behavior on his part. She likely told him that Ray has been holding back his anger at her for months and months and that on the elevator she finally struck him with straw that broke the camel's back.

It is really comparable to what occurred between Solange Knowles & Jay-Z regarding their elevator videotape . . .
Well you saw the end of the Rice elevator videotape and so did the public . . . but only the NFL commissioner and the Atlantic County Prosecutor saw the ENTIRE elevator videotape of the altercation of Ray Rice and Tranay Rice . . . the one which she has publicly admitted fault for inciting and provoking.

If you are Anthony Pettis and you find yourself on a Las Vegas elevator with an irate former girlfriend in Ronda Rousey who is lighting you up with blistering MMA combinations do you have the reasonable right of self-defense??

Ray didn't continue to beat her after she was subdued or else the NFL and the legal authorities would have dropped the hammer on him . . . she admitted her culpability and there is a videotape to validate her admission just like the one that TMZ got from that hotel employee of Solange attempting to beat the brakes off of Sean Carter who was let go after she sold it.

Yes with conjecture, something previously established.

    ???

Somewhere in the midst of your statement are several unsupportable premises. Unless you were present at the meeting, you don't know what Rice's wife said to Goddell. Furthermore there were others at the meeting as well, including Ray Rice, the Ravens general manager, Ravens team president and at least two others. It's disingenuous to lay pretense to insider information when you can't even name the principals at the meeting.

More conjecture. Unless you were there for the meeting, and you weren't, your words are as worthless as the ass that gave birth to them.

    Everything below is tangential.

    Whatever bro

I didn't take Algebra II in high school just to qualify for UGA. I learned how to find unknown values in an equation. There is simply no compelling argument to be made to the contrary . . . Tranay Rice likey told NFL commissioner Goodell information that she assaulted Ray and incited the domestic dispute . . .

which was validated by the video tape and established her as the aggressor in that elevator altercation. She probably even added that this was only the first time that he has responded violently to her recurring physical abuse.

" Well you saw the end of the Rice elevator videotape and so did the public . . . but only the NFL commissioner and the Atlantic County Prosecutor saw the ENTIRE elevator videotape of the altercation of Ray Rice and Tranay Rice . . . the one which she has publicly admitted fault for inciting and provoking." ~ how is this tangential conjecture?

Satyr, I submit that it goes to the very heart of my position.

You apply your educated analysis and come up with another algebraic formula which results in a mere two game suspension?

Take your time . . . I will cook dinner and eat :smt006

My take on this is that it isn't about being pc. It is about swift punishment and justice. But this kind is not meted out by a judicial authority, but by the public(or someone who believes that they are acting in the interest of the public tin or to save their own asses). Domestic violence is no joke. It's very, very bad. Violence against men or women is very, very bad, too. However, we see violence on television, online and the big screen everyday in both real and imaginary settings. So, Stephen said that a man should not put their hands on a woman and he gets suspended? Since when is a statement, though stern, a reason to get suspended? Perhaps it is because women also watch ESPN and are just as passionate about sports as the men. But domestic violence cuts deeper than anyone realizes. And while it is difficult to check ourselves during that heat of the moment, we must be aware of the result if we, as human beings, just let it out because that is what we are feeling because we don't know(or do not care) what the result could be.

Uh . . . who is Tranay Rice and what does she have to do with the matter under discusssion?!

The formula in my signature is the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

Janay (Palmer) Rice is her name not Tranay; I had it wrong.

I like how Ray Rice stood up and took the brunt of the blame for the altercation as the head of his household. He doesn't have to exhaust himself to satisfy the femi-nazis who want to hear every exact detail of what occurred on that elevator. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's office knows what occurred exactly as does the NFL Commissioners office and most importantly so does his family.

Some people will never be satisfied no matter what you say or do . . . but people of good faith and common sense know that he wasn't the aggressor on the elevator that night and that he is doing his part and a man and head of the household to take the full brunt for the reprecussions of his reaction for his wife's behavior.

The videotape and his wife's admission surely played a key role in the Atlantic County prosecutor's decision to accept Ray into Pre-Trial Intervention despite the 1994 Domestic Violence Act and the presumption that violent defendants are generally prohibited from PTI. Roger Goodell surely took the totality of the circumstances into account in rendering his decision as well.

You have everything wrong and insist on speaking to things that you really don't know shit about.
