I'm not a big fan of the fake nails either. I tired them once years ago just to see what the appeal was all about, and I couldn't stand them. I prefer my own nails...natural nails look much better IMO. Mine are healthy and grow pretty fast. I don't like them too long though. The best looking fake nails I see people wearing are the ones that look more natural in length or shape.

Maybe it would look better on someone with a different build; it isn't at all flattering on the model wearing it.
