Do they still teach home economics at school? Food education is a must, but it appears to be such a low priority theses days. The western world has become so focused on instant gratification and are so sloth like, that the article really isn't surprising.
There needs to be less car time, more healthy home cooked meal time and regulations on fast food chains

That's excellent. Don't look at it as a sacrifice just for weight loss. Look at it as a fundamental lifestyle change that you are making. You can do it and the results will last.

This. I like that dark hair, btw. ;)

Today, I had found out that I lost a total of 26 pounds since diagnosis. 26 pounds. I wasn't sure but I started noticing that I am slimming down and losing a pant size(I used to wear a waist size of 44. Now I am about 42 or 40). I predict, if I keep up my momentum, I will be down to my fighting or dancing weight.

You've been saying this for years and I thoroughly disagree. We all grew up with the food pyramid and we know what we should be putting in our bodies but most people choose convenience and taste over what's healthy. Damn near every overweight person knows that vegetables and fruits are better for them than french fries and candy bars but the bad shit is usually far more accessible and a lot tastier.
    IMO it's about breaking addiction

I see my doctor next month. Hopefully she will give me a target weight so I can focus on that goal.

To complete that 'winter look' you need to be draped in an Orejon overcoat. ;)

The pyramid keeps changing though. Which is the right one?

They used to say grains over proteins, now they flipped the script.

It's based on political tides, IMO.

No matter how they flip it most people aren't becoming so obese that they get diabetes because they have less protein and more grains. The VAST MAJORITY are choosing candy and fast food because it tastes better than vegetables and fruit. They'd rather go to a drive thru and order a number two than go home and cook some broccoli and chicken. Its really that simple and to be fair its a lot cheaper so I get why most families do it but its absolutely not about education. That's a pure lie and an excuse, this is the information age and not knowing is not an excuse. Shit it never has been because like I said we all know we had examples as children unless you grew up in a third world part of the world where just getting food in the first place was the challenge.
We can't fix the problem if people refuse to be honest about what's causing this. Lack of good eating habits and inactivity, it's really that simple.

Funny thing is one you get into the habit of reading healthy, it doesn't taste bad. I don't even cook broccoli. I just eat out raw with a bit of saracha.

Good stuff, did you start doing it because someone educated you on healthy eating?

Trying to put on muscle, I stopped eating shit food. I always knew my diet was poor though. Nothing was news to me.

I had come from a visit from my doctor. I had some blood work done two weeks ago(A1C). She and her staff were very happy to report that my blood pressure is perfect. Need more calcium. But the big news was...my A1C is down to a 5. That is down to normal(pre-diabetic). My weight is now, since first diagnosis is 280 pounds. I'm not stopping. I'm going to get the nigger out of me.
