Computer passes 'Turing Test' for the first time after convincing users it is human

    Passing the Turning Test isn't enough.

    To demonstrate sentience computers need to be able to decide Undecidable problems.

    e.g. Halting Problem / Entscheidungsproblem .

    Not to mention the issues related to algorithmic complexity / expense - although Quantum Computing might help there. Does NPHARD == NP?

    In plain terms we lack the language to model real reasoning and don't look like we will find a solution anytime soon. We really have NO IDEA about how to solve this. We are still waiting for the arrival of the crackpot who is able to reason so far out of the the box that he/she/it manages to solve it.

    Von Neumann aka Turing Architecture (which boils down to storage, sequence, repetition, decision) isn't powerful enough to model that which goes on in (most of) our brains BUT it is THE way in which we currently reason about reasoning.
