Isn't it ironic that God always seem to issue mandates in religious texts that seem to reinforce the agenda of the dominant group of men in a given society?

    Ever read the new testament?

I have never read the Bible. I have one and was going to start reading it, but never did.

What does the New Testament say?

To sum it it's a lot more hippy stuff. Outside of Revelations it's a lot of peace and love

    That's happy stuff! I like that. :D

All except The Book of Revelation, of course. I have a script idea regarding that, but I have zero time to do any research on it to write the script.

    What...in the fuck, people?

I guess poop and piss are ritualistic too, no?

A lot of it, but it hasn't been in years. The New Testament does offer a different approach, assuming of course you can sift through all the convenient reworkings of it to facilitate organized religion. But in general, it always seems like organized religion reinforces much of the preexisting biases in society. I was reading an article about Islamic societies and burkhas and wondered: why doesn't 'God' ever make men be modest and cover themselves? Could it be that it's because these books are just fanciful stories full of editorial bias on the part of their very human authors?

I hope his show is a huge hit.

The first episode only took in 5.8 million viewers on its debut...which...by public TV standards, isn't all that good. Then again, it was going up against hard ball shows like True Detective and other programs that are on PrimeTime.

Wow, I would have thought those would be considered excellent numbers. Well, True Detective is done, so maybe that will help.

I guess the numbers are more about expected turnout than anything else. With a society gripped on reality TV, it should hold no surprise.

I'm going to do my part to get people to tune in. He's a very cool guy.

Not just that, but this was Carl Sagan's baby to keep the masses from falling into stupid. Initially, it was to prevent people from actually retreating to supernatural ideas. But now, the whole thing has been compounded with reality TV and media plurality and plutocrats...which is most baffling.

Yeah, I remember the first one with Carl Sagan from middle school and high school days. "Billions and billions..." lol. R.I.P.

You know what I heard a podcast that made me think of you today. You ever smoke weed or mushrooms? I really think you could benefit a lot from it. If you want I can post the podcast for you.

And billions more to come...in the saddest moments of our lives.

Hahaha, I was only gone for a few days and people wind up thinking about me? How swell. And no...I'm about as much of a straight arrow as you can get when it comes to me doing anything. No alcohol, no drugs, no weed...nothing of the sort.

But humor me with the podcast anyway...maybe a one time affair.

This one of the reasons why all people should watch the new Cosmos.
Neil deGrasse Tyson one of the few genuinely humble physicists you'll see who is not afraid to admit the unknown is greater than the known and that both realities must be embraced in order to advance our collective knowledge as a species.

I don't if anyone here has heard of Greydon Square. He is an atheist rapper from Compton. He's pretty much underground. A lot of his songs are about atheism, criticizing/discrediting religion, and science. Here are a few of his songs. I really recommend you guys take a listen. His beats are pretty good too IMHO:
