actually there is a bill headed to the state legislature to ban the captivity of orca's in the state of california...i have it on my FB wall and will post in animal awareness thread... whiks...there is also a doc/movie called "the whale" that you would love...narrated by ryan reynolds based on a true story of Luna...a male whale that was separated from his pod and lived in the sound off of vancouver, canada...chasing boats and loving people!
I watched "The Whale", Lippy - what an interesting story! What a demonstration of such evolved emotional intelligence in an animal. He was certainly persistent. It was a shame they couldn't help him in the end, but I suppose it was inevitable. Good watch
Paycheck to Paycheck: The Life and Times of Katrina Gilbert Meet Katrina Gilbert, a nursing home specialist nurse who barely makes enough to make end's meat. She only has enough just to be broke. On top of that, she has three kids to take care of, as a single mom. This documentary explores what it's like to try and keep your head above the waters while learning the meaning of struggle and sacrifice. She's a courageous woman with a great deal of issues of her own, health-wise, which is why we should take a step back before we criticize individuals like this. Maybe someday, we can have an honest discussion on the minimum wage, healthcare for everyone and affordable things in life so that people like Katrina Gilbert won't have to struggle and suffer. People like her need a break, but luckily...she has a lot of lovely people on her side.
I knew you would love it:heart: just watched..."the loving story" IR WM/BW documentary...also on netflix
Personally I love documentary movies about sea animals (especially ones I am scared of), prehistoric animals, and snakes, but also animals in generally. I enjoyed this particular documentary on sharks, because unlike many other shark documentaries which show mainly the dangerous side of the animal, this one also explains the importance of sharks on the eco-system and why humans should not kill them until they are extinct. The Purity Pledge A story about people who go against the sexual nature of humans and instead, would take a pledge to hold out and say that they've only been with one person in their life. It's an interesting documentary, but be warmed...you might feel a bit uneasy if you're not too familiar with the practices of abstinence only action.
I can think of one terrible documentary... Mermaids...worst tripe ever broadcast. And the fact that they put it on Animal Planet? Unforgivable. Just glad my son didn't fall for that faux-scientific treatment. http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/mermaids
