Father shot dead boy, 17, he found in bed with his 16-year-old daughter after she lied about sneaking him in and said she didn't know him

By Ashley Collman, 13 March 2014

A Spring, Texas father fatally shot a 17-year-old boy early this morning, after catching the teen in bed with his 16-year-old daughter.

Neither the 55-year-old father or the dead boy have been identified yet as authorities in Harris County continue to investigate the shooting.

The father told police that he was woken up by one of his four children who said a stranger was in the house.

He grabbed his handgun and went to investigate and found the teen in bed with his daughter.

The daughter denied knowing the boy and an argument ensued between the stranger and the father when he wouldn't listen to the father's commands.

When the teen reached for something, the father shot and killed the boy. Authorities say the teen was unarmed.

The 16-year-old daughter later admitted to knowing the boy and letting him into the house.

Police responded to the incident around 2:30am after receiving a 911 call from a girl who said her father shot a man who was underneath her sister's bed.

Authorities interviewed all four children at the home, and the father was taken to the hospital after complaining about a possible panic attack. It appears he was on several different medications.

The mom who was at work at the time of the shooting later showed up to drive her four children away in a minivan.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed yet. The case will be referred to a grand jury.

I don't buy his story. Sounds more like an alibi to me.
In Texas it's perfectly legal as in most states to shoot dead an unidentified intruder inside one's home.

I think daddy was listening to his daughter's bedroom door, knew some punk kid was in there with his little girl and just lost it.

We'll see if the daughter sticks to her story.

Even if his daughter told him that stupid shit, just kick the boy out the house.
You really had to smoke him?? You were THAT scared for your life when you were the only one who had a gun??:smt071

What a sad and unnecessary story.

I am a bit skeptical about the facts as the Dad lays them out. It just seems fishy to me.

yeah or just call the cops. i believe the story but he should be convicted of murder regardless if its true or not. why? because he said an arguement broke out. not a fight. bullshit. no kid is going to get into it with a dad . with or without a gun in his house.

Wait a minute. You say you believe his story, but say no kid is going to get in an argument with someone's dad. Which is it?

True, but as the adult in this situation, the fathers first instinct shouldn't have been to shoot. I think *some* gun owners resort to shooting first and asking questions later. It's unfortunate that that mentality is killing so many of our youngsters.

if you have to shoot...why not just shoot in the leg or in the arm...that is all you would have to do to slow someone down...the scenario is absurd

That's what I've never understood. My assumption is that in the heat of the moment, a shooters goal is to just hit their target. I don't think in every case a shooters intent is to kill, but it happens that way all too often. I think if the father was thinking clearly enough to just go after the leg or arm, he probably would've been rational enough to recognize that he didn't need to shoot at all. Terribly sad outcome for that young mans family.

Absolutely correct. Regardless of the truth in the details coming out, a young boy is dead.

The mental stability of the average American is that of a ticking time bomb. When gripped with fear, they react in an uncontrollable, paranoid fashion, thus leading to situations like this. There's a plausible outcome from it all...Americans and their guns...:smt043:smt043:smt043

Crazy ass, paranoid cretins on the rocks.

Wow, AB, you would make a great prosecutor ...here I believed he was protecting his daughter, and then you threw a wrench in the story. Interesting and plausible alternative...

'He didn't deserve to die that like': Grief-stricken mother wants apology from father who shot dead her 17-year-old son

A grand jury will now decide whether any charges will be filed against a Texas father who fired one fatal shot at a 17-year-old boy he found in his teenage daughter's bedroom early Thursday morning.

As photos of victim Johran McCormick emerged on Friday, his heartbroken family said the least they expect is an apology from the gun-wielding dad, who constables say was on 'several medications' at the time of the incident.

'I would like my baby back, but I know that's not possible,' the victim's mother, Zakia McCormick, told KHOU 11 News.

'I have never ever felt a pain like this. Ever.

'(I want) a call, you know. ''I'm sorry''. He didn't deserve to die that like.'

This entire story added up to a bad cocktail. Lets see.

*A fresh tart has a guy in her room without her father knowing because she snuck him in through the window.

*Brother saw 4 feet sticking out from under the sheets and notified his dad

*She claimed at first not to know who the guy in bed next to her was when dad confronted them

*Dad was on 'several medications' at the time of the incident

*All this at 2 in the morning. W.T.F.

What is with these young girls today, this isn't a game, dad catches you in bed with some strange guy, state from the jump what is what. Don't beat around the bush under his roof. You want to act like a grown woman, pack your shit and be out.
