There is nothing more tiring than the "sick of slave movies" complaint. There have only been a handful throughout the history of Hollywood film. Slave films are a rarity. Just because a few have come out over the last couple of years does not change that fact.

I just don't watch them. I'll browse Netflix and find some other shit. There's a bunch of black movies on there.

Nah,I think I was out of the country for training when it came out and it slipped my mind when I got back. That one actually looked pretty cool.

So more movies about slaves & slavery because they are such a rarity & "meh/whatever" on any other black experiences, especially any uplifting ones outside of slavery?

If they made one about science, math, business, economics, information technology, engineering, etc that would be great. But not many people would view movies based about that (regardless of the characters in it). The movie's profits would be low, and almost everything in our culture revolves around how much money you have or how much money you can make.

So instead, most people would prefer to see movies involving action, slavery, sports, comedy, relationships, etc.

    1) Why are you responding to a post that was not directed to you?

    2) Why, as always, are you explaining anything to me as if I have no clue of what goes on in the world?

    3) Are you on those bath salts, which would explain why you continue to do Question #2 every time you chose to reply to some post of mine?

I really thought I made a good post and could contribute to the thread.

And I would also add to my post that the directors probably don't know how to make a popular movie based on the subjects that I mentioned about.

Most of the black oscar winners in this 2000-2014 era won their oscar playing a slave, maid or the main character of a biopic.

If you wanted to put your observations down on the topic at hand, why didn't you just put your opinion up like everyone else instead of replying to my query to another poster?

Red Tails was pretty cool. I watch it a lot on DVD. The internet complaint/rant was that a lot of folks didn't believe that the 332 Pursuit Squadron ever existed. Then came the comment from one guy that he was sick of seeing films where black men become heroes. Well, I don't like seeing action/adventure films where black men become cowards or the perfunctory victims(the black guy always dies). It further bolsters the belief that white men can do it all, even save the world. Sure, their reasoning is that the purpose is to make money and that the target audience is for a white audience. The Brat Pack films were a good example(I loved The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, though)you didn't see a black boy or girl in any of those films, as even a supporting character. But, that was the 80's. But, now, the times are changing. The new Annie film will star the little girl who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for Beasts Of The Southern Wild(I think that was the title). And Jaime Foxx will play Daddy Warbucks.
