I'm w FG. I enjoyed After Earth. Just finished watching it. Really glad I don't depend on movie critics and reviews, because sometimes their reviews are just off base.
I loved this movie...based on a true story...Chris Gardner has a cameo at the very end of the movie...he the well dressed businessman that Will/Jaden pass on the street
I was expecting much more from it, and was highly disappointed, but I want a film to entertain me, not so much to teach me anything lol. I love will smith, although my boyfriend says he is a terrible actor lol. But there we differ, he hates ''I Robot'', whereas it is one of my favourite films. I don't need Shakespeare or life lessons, I want to chill out, have fun and be excited. I didn't really get that from this film. To me it was just an excuse for will to totally put all attention onto his son. He was saying ''look what he can do!'' bless him.
The big problem with the movie was public perception. They felt like Jaden didn't deserve to be the star. That's it. Americans can be pretty petty. But, if they were able to help their children's' careers most of their hellicopter mom/dad asses will pull out all the stops to do it regardless of their "babies" lack of skill or talent. Jaden's not a bad actor with hit movies under his belt. He's starred with international superstars and critically acclaimed actors and held his own. There is no reason that movie should have received the hate it did. Had it been a comedy or a "we gon ' make it out da hood" flick, it would have been a hit.
I thought he was great in that role tbh. I also like that he is will's soon IRL. It just made their interaction so much more real. I think jaden has a great acting career ahead of him. And not only because he has.. Connections, but because I think he will be very good at it.
Cosign. I'm having a To Kill A Mocking Bird moment. I'm closing my eyes and imaging if they were white this shit would have been hit. Similar to Tomb Raider.
