male pride, badassism, a woman, and guns.. heheheh Some guys have to keep up an image in front of the fellas but especially in front of their girlfriends. that kinda thing's been around since the cave man days. Except now, fools have access to guns and are thus emboldened and that much more dangerous I'm starting to think florida is "special" now tho.
You better wear your seatbelt in Florida, or the cops will run you over. R.I.P. Marlon Brown
IR couple under FIRE! (20 shots, to be exact!) I know it's a tad dated, but still, sheesh! Mom turns in son in Walmart Hate Crime By Ronnie Blair | Updated: March 13, 2013 TAMPA, FLORIDA; A 25-year-old man charged in the pellet-gun shooting of a Black man he mistakenly thought was a Muslim showed no remorse, and made racist statements even as he was arrested, a detective who investigated the case said. "The only thing the world cares about is those Muslims," defendant Daniel P. Quinnell reportedly said as he was taken into custody. Investigators credited the defendant's mother – along with help from the media and area residents – in making an arrest so quickly. Schoneman said the parents were worried their son was a danger to other people, to law enforcement officers and to himself. Barbara Quinnell said her son is "extremely prejudiced," jealous of other men with women and suffers from depression. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has labeled the shooting of Cameron Christopher Mohammed, 24, of Tampa, a hate crime. Cameron Mohammed, who was treated at the scene, still has one pellet lodged in his head and one in his neck. He is scheduled to have them surgically removed Monday. "It was a heinous crime in our county," Sheriff Chris Nocco said. Quinnell, of 2239 Tioga Drive, Land O' Lakes, is charged with aggravated battery in the Wednesday shooting in a Walmart parking lot at 1575 Land O' Lakes Blvd., Lutz. Investigators said he fired 20 shots at close range at Mohammed, who was walking across the parking lot with his girlfriend about 3 a.m. Just before firing the pellet gun, Quinnell asked Mohammed whether he was from the the Middle East and whether he was Muslim, an arrest report said. Mohammed, who was born in the United States to parents originally from Trinidad and is not Muslim, answered no to both questions. Quinnell then pulled a handgun from his jacket, made a racial slur and a comment about the man being with a white woman, and fired, striking Mohammed in the face and throat, the report said. Detective Lisa Schoneman said Mohammed later told her that when he saw the gun, he thought, "That's it. My life was over and this was all it was going to be." :smt085 If the gun had been anything other than a pellet gun, Mohammed most likely would have been killed, Schoneman said. Investigators discovered their suspect's image on a Walmart surveillance video and released it to the media. Within about 45 minutes of the video being broadcast Thursday evening, Schoneman said her telephone lit up with tips from people who recognized Quinnell. Among the people calling was his mother, Barbara Quinnell. She told Schoneman that her son had called her and his father to ask if they had watched the news, and he admitted he had shot the man at the Walmart. Schoneman described Quinnell's parents as "wonderful, wonderful people," and said the mother "did something that was hard to do" by calling law enforcement to turn in her son. "She was in a very difficult spot," Schoneman said. At one point, Quinnell's parents almost convinced him to turn himself in, but he changed his mind, Schoneman said. The parents help investigators find him at a Comfort Inn at State Road 54 and Interstate-75 in Land O' Lakes. When officers arrived at the Comfort Inn late Thursday night, Quinnell was in the lobby, the arrest report said. He put his hands behind his back and said, "I know you are looking for me. I am the one who shot that guy in the face," the report said. Schoneman said when she interviewed Quinnell, he said he had been having a bad day and someone nearly hit him as he pulled into the Walmart. Quinnell said he initially thought Mohammed and his girlfriend might have been in the vehicle that almost hit him. He said he had destroyed the gun, she said. Quinnell told her he carries the pellet gun for protection because, as a convicted felon, he can't carry a real gun. Schoneman said Quinnell has been arrested numerous times and over the years the sheriff's office has had contact with him 51 times for various reasons, but she was not aware of any that involved a hate crime. Schoneman said Quinnell continued to make racial slurs during her interview with him. She said when she told him the victim was not Muslim, he replied, "They are all the same." -------------------------------- It was caught on surveillance... This is a dumb thread, saw off FL and all of America's racial bugaboos and injustices will float away into the Carribean. Right.
Exactly! Of course FL has the same bigotry that the remaining 49 other states have, at least it also has plenty of sunshine and good times that perpetuate an environment of positive energy. So go ahead and saw it off. Just make sure I am in Florida when you do it.
If you find yourself in Virginia you will regret it. Culturally the state is not north or south, just luke warm and pathetic. Its not like Florida where you have the dirty south in the north and its own dynamic character in the south.
I fail back on this thread out of respect for the Florida posters but truthfully most of the bizarre and craziest national news come out of florida.
How many people would rather live in Miss, Alabama, or Arkansas. When you start asking questions that are rooted in reality, we find that most people can tell the difference between prime rib and ground chuck rather easily. The media is powerful, but when its time to apply knowledge we know that rib steak > shoulder cut chuck.
