As long as Depp doesn't play Dr. Strange as quirky, like he does everything else lately, I'm all for it.
Not Power Rangers Lantern Corps rings (Green Lantern comics) Red (rage) Orange (greed) Yellow (fear) Green (willpower) Blue (hope) Indigo (compassion) Violet (love)
Johnny Depp as Doctor Strange? He might pull it off. He did a good job on Dark Shadows as Barnabas Collins and that character was very straight.
My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't mind if he plays Strange where others initially view him as being slightly eccentric due to his involvement with magic & they are skeptical because they don't believe in the supernatural but playing him quirky & more for laughs is a no go.
Meh. If he hadn't already played Ra's Al-Ghul in Nolan's Batman films I'd say good call, but I'm not really a big fan of the someone who played a character in one superhero franchise playing another in a different franchise fad that seems to be the thing now. Even though he's done a decent job as Captain America, I still wished they would have gone with someone else for the role instead of Chris Evans. Same with Ben Affleck being cast as the new Batman. Very good actor, but they should have gone with someone who hasn't already played a similar superhero. My pick if they want to play things that way would have been Adrian Pasdar, the guy who played Nathan Petrelli in Heroes, since they are going for an older Batman in this new take.
Since Fantastic Four, he (Evans) underwent a bit of a personality change to fit the role and it worked out amicably. I get what you're saying, but if the characters were similar in personality and nothing distinguishable, I can see your point. But even with Affleck...he played a superhero from a forgettable movie, which is all the more justified. Then again, let's wait and see how things pan out.
Don't forget Ryan Reynolds. Wish he had stuck to being Dead Pool Forgot about Chris Evans being Human Torch until you mentioned it. I don't get how people swing that. It shows that Hollywood isn't about talent just a shit ton of schmoozing otherwise Ali Larter would have been the invisible woman.
My whole bitch when it comes to comic movie casting is the perception of studios acting as if they are working from a small casting pool when they are not. I understand that there are certain actors & actresses who don't do certain genres of movies just as there are actors/actresses who love to do nothing but sci-fi/fantasy/comic movies, but it seems like studios & directors don't even try when it comes to casting some of these movies or TV shows. Try for the big names, try for the some what known & try the unknowns especially. And definitely cast someone who at least resembles the characters in some way. I don't know how or why Ryan Reynolds ever got into the running for Hal Jordan. Even before I ever saw the movie I thought he was all wrong for the part. Hal Jordan is suppose to be cocky, but not too much of a smart ass. Reynolds played him too smart ass more than cocky IMO. Didn't play up the "fearless" quality that got Jordan chosen to be a Green Lantern. And I always pictured Ali Larter more as Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel rather than Sue Storm.
I know that. I just didn't want to make two different posts. I miss the green lantern series with Hal.
Back when they did the first two Fantastic Four movies, I thought Gretchen Mol would have done a great job with the part.
No, she is about right. I never saw Ms. Richards as this young girl. She was maybe a couple years apart from Reed.
