I know I'm not the only person who has been told this. It annoys the hell out of me, because it sounds as if I'm supposed to be doing things (talking, walking, etc) a certain way (according to society), instead of just being myself.
Guys, give me you two cents...

I've been told that a couple of times myself. Two black boys told me that at a family get-together awhile back. I just shrugged it off. A few years back while talking on the phone with a white girl, she told me I sounded like a white boy. I don't care. It's the way I've always sounded. Can't change it. Don't want to try. I have to admit it gets me in with white girls sometimes and in groups where brothas usually aren't invited.

Don't sweat it, bro. Remember, this is the beauty of being black. We aren't all the same.

I've not only had black guys and black girls say that, but I've always had white guys tell me the same thing. It was never in a mean way, just like.. ".. you don't 'act' black; at all".

You wanna hear how they would expect most black men to talk:

    white guy: hey
    black guy: sup'
white guy: nothing really, how about you?
black guy: man, just grindin, hustlin on the daily; stackin my paper right n' shit, you know.
white guy: cool. that's good to hear. What are you gonna do tonight?
black guy: holla at some females. Probably get at these hoes in the club if they tryin to fucks wit me 2night. Last night they was actin bougie as hell. But I hear a lot of white people be up at that club, so I might scoop me up a snowbunny or two, you know.
White guy: oh, alright then, I'll talk to you later
Black guy: fa sho; holla at me.

Hahahahahah....lmao!.....never really been told this...but know quite a few BM who get that...but it works to their advantage sometimes with the ladies. I must confess that some of my conversations sound like that...not quite that bad...but closer than I'd like.

gotta do, what i gotta do....its hard to find that balance...i'm either too "black" or too "white" for WW...with BW...its not as much of a struggle in that regard.... gangsta with prep tendencies or a prep with a thug side...who knows..i guess ya just gotta be yourself

Yea, in fact, that's the best way to be, in my opinion.

I can't lie, I speak to some of my family members with the "typical BM" lingo as well. If the WW I was with wouldn't accept me for those times that I do occasionally talk like that, then she's just not right for me.

For her to love you for who you are, wouldn't she have to? Just food for thought.

Loving me is one thing, liking me is another. I'm just saying if she liked me and we were together.

Maybe some people tell you that you sound "white" but it definately helps you get through where alot of black men might not be able to reach... If you think about it it definately helps you get further with the general population of WW.
