So I guess the new "in" thing at Marvel Comics over the last couple of years has been that whenever a creative team decides to leave a book that they relaunch it with a new number one issue for the new replacement creative team??? WTF??? :smt119
It was not that bad. Seriously. Like a feudal Japanese version of The Immortals or 300. And no fake Hollywood ending. I was surprised. At least catch the dvd.
Pretty much confirms that the focus of comics now a days is in the wrong place. The creators have become the focus rather than the characters & the stories. Creators use to spend years, some even decades, on one or two books only and made their reps to the point that they became linked to certain characters even years/decades after they were no longer doing the characters. Now they treat every writer & artist as if they are well known & established after only doing a single three or four issue story arc.
Looks like they aren't going to be completely destroying the Ultimate Marvel Universe or that Miles Morales will end up in the regular Marvel Universe as rumors in comic nerdland were saying. At total revamp of the Ultimate Universe looks to be taking place after the Cataclysm Event currently going on in the Ultimate Universe books. A new Ultimates team is formed featuring the teenaged heroes of the Ultimate Universe : Spider-Man, Kitty Pryde, the former female Peter Parker cloned Spider-Woman now calling herself the Black Widow, Cloak & Dagger & Bombshell. A new Ultimate Fantastic Four featuring Sue Storm, Sam "Falcon" Wilson, Tony "Iron Man" Stark & the Machine Man. And Miles "Spider-Man" Morales gets is own solo series chronicling his adventures outside the new Ultimates team.
Color me shocked, that they would have so many Black men starring in these books. Maybe there is some progress in comics after all. Although I was kind of hoping Miles might be heading to the main universe.
After looking at the list, it is worth noting(because the narrator didn't)that Karrem- Abdul Jabar was also a student and friend of Bruce Lee. Chuck Norris ran one of Bruce Lee's schools. Lee had a school in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seatle, Washington. The blogger should've noted the fight scenes in The Green Hornet(called The Kato Show in China).
Of course. I've seen the behind the scenes footage and it's strange how you'd think they were fast on screen...but no. It's comparable to seeing that fight at three times the speed.
This comparison was interesting. I believe that the blogger was right about this one. Jean-Claude Van Damme(real name Vandenberg), is reknowned for his physique. He is strong and flexible. Steven Seagal is a master in Aikkido. Van Damme could come at you with a variety of attacks and counter-attacks. Seagal would put you in a world of hurt and he fights to the death. Seagal has moved from New Orleans to Pheonix, Arizona, where he is working with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. He is even considering going into politics. Van Damme is enjoying a comeback. It was said that both men didn't like each other. Seagal claims that Van Damme is not a world champion martial artist. This stems from Seagal's experience in that community. Seagal doesn't have to move much to take someone down. At 61 and standing at 6'5, why should he?
In the Chinese version of The Game Of Death, Kareem-Abdul Jabar has some speaking parts during the confrontation(well, a mental notation) about the fight.
That was amazing. Mel Blanc: The Man, The Legend, The Myth. I though his son Noel was going to take over. But, I guess it wasn't to be. I recall Don S. Davis. He played General Hammond on Stargate: SG-1, a survivalist in the SYFY Channel film The Wyvern. In the first animated incarnation of G.I. JOE, he voiced Leatherneck and Tex(the helicopter pilot). Honorable mention should also go to the voice actor who played Cobra Commander in G.I. JOE and Starscream in The Transformers. I had read that he died a few years ago. Another Honorable mention goes to Michael McConnoghie, (he voice Vampire Hunter D, Leonard Dawson in Golgo 13: The Professional and others). Gregory Snegoff( voiced the lead character in the anime Wicked City and other anime). Wendy Lee( voiced Faye valentine in Cowboy Bebop, Kei in the rerecorded version of Akira and other anime). And many others.
A lot of cats were just hating on that film because it was the "in" thing to do. If Will had not put Jaden in the movie and went with someone else, people would have loved it. But, they hated on him and his son. Didn't matter that Jaden had two or three movies under his belt already that were hits. He was about due for a big budget action flick. I really did not understand the reason for all the hate that movie received. Much of it from people who never saw it. 'Course, these will be some of the same brothas' who'll be complaining about the lack of black leading men in sci-fi and fantasy films.
Hey if you like shitty movies more power to you The vast majority of reviews I read go into specific detail about why it's a bad film They're not just hating on it because it's the cool thing to do as you make it out to seem
My two cents on After Earth : It's not as bad a movie as some people & critics make it out to be. It is however a weak attempt at a science fiction movie and that is mainly due to the fact that Will Smith's original idea for the story wasn't sci-fi in nature. M. Night Shyamalan was the one who thought it would be a good ideal to turn it into a sci-fi flick based on the fact of Will Smith's success being in big budget sci-fi flicks. If it had originally been conceived as a sci-fi film with all the sci-fi elements & futuristic backstory fully thought out, it may have been a decent sci-fi/action film compared to what was actually made.
