Are you people high? There is only one person in Hollywood who perfectly fits John Stewart and its Michael Jai White. Perfect built and demeanor. There is truly no one who is even close. He's the best fit hands down. And for Lex Luther Kevin Spacey did an excellent job before why not use him again?
Kevin Spacey's portrayal of Lex Luthor was realistic and it was fitting. I had always felt that Lex Luthor should be older and played by an older actor. Kevin Spacey fits the bill. Michael Jai White as John Stewart, I'd say he can do it, but I think he makes a better Bronze Tiger in terms of physicality. Or, he could play John Henry Irons who becomes Steel in Superman's absence. Or Cyborg. For Denzel Washington to play John Stewart, he would have to be a little loose. Sure, John Stewart was a man of the streets and a badass streetfighter, but he definitely is not rigid in his attitude.
Michael Jai White did portray Spawn and he did a fairly good job, despite working on an average movie. And the character he portrayed, he's pretty much like John Stewart with the attitude and personality. The difference is that, on top of being in the military, Al Simmons was also an Assassin, so it would stand to reason to see White being the perfect role for John Stewart/Green Lantern. D. Washington would be a good choice, but he doesn't really show that distinctive, authority-like demeanor that JS uses.
Don't know if I'd want a big name actor like Denzel or Will Smith playing John Stewart. I always thought Roger Cross would be a good fit for the part.
He did a credible job as Al Simmons/Spawn, although John Leguizamo stole the picture as Clown. I even saw White in The Toxic Avenger Part 2. The Toxic Avenger film series will be on tonight on Epix Drive-In at 9:30. He was also in a film with Michelle Yeoh Silver Fox as a henchman. In the final analysis, it will be up to White if he wants to play JS. Will Smith might jump on it and so would Taye Diggs(I'm sure he could use the work). Maybe Idris Elba could do it. Perhaps Shemar Moore.
Shadow Man Playthrough by me...BigBrotherWii This is one of my favorite games of all time and for good reason. Yes, I would say that, for the first time in the gaming circle, there's a black protagonist who has a lot of depth in character and isn't of any stereotype commonly associated with black characters in the video game series. So, I am going to do my game playthrough of this game. This action-adventure takes place in the early 2000s, where Legion (Biblical villain) wants to bring about The End of All Things. Michael LeRoi, still distraught over the loss of his younger brother and parents, went through hell and back, as an assassin and now as the potential savior of the world. By donning the Mask of Shadows, he becomes Shadow Man, an immortal voodoo warrior with powers of controlling the dead and coming between the worlds of the living and of the dead. This is a grandiose epic adventure that spans across Louisiana, New York City and the many areas of Deadside. I've invested countless hours getting everything in this game and well, it shows how much I enjoyed it.
Roger Cross would be good. Plus, he's about do for a big screen role. Not sure about White. His acting abilities are a little suspect.
He already played a similar role and besides this is an action movie. Since when do you have to be a great actor to do those kind of films?
Since the producers of Batman vs Superman (Justice League) have already shown a proclivity for unusual casting It would be interesting if they went with a off center choice like Michael K. Williams.
I sincerely doubt green lantern will be black with Cyborg being there. CYborg is also in robin's age range. Meaning they shouldn't be selecting anyone 30 or older as I believe that is the age range of supes and bats(both characters being born in the same year)
Avengers? How so? Wasn't Sam the token black? on a lighter note: Hancock was a pleasant surprise. I really thought it was going to be bad but it was ok. Will smith was pretty good at running away from a white woman. lol j/k spoiler!
Sooooo, a black man who practices voodooism and is called shadow man isn't stereotypical? I understand your point but his description sounds like every other black super heroes schtick.
He doesn't really practice it. Rather, he was given those powers by a woman who specializes in it. He just possess voodoo powers. Plus, he's not from the ghetto, nor speak in that manner, so it's a different change of pace and his coping mannerisms with loss of family differentiates from what we commonly associate with "black culture." You'll have to read the comics, or better yet...just play the game to find out what I mean.
Why couldn't he be a suburban guy with science powers. A superhero movie like that would never be made. too racy... I'll see a cyborg, static, or Icon movie before that comes out.
We've seen the black guy with science powers a bunch of times. That would be just another origin story lost in the sea of generic-ness.
