Being stressed and living in a tattered discomfort can leave even the most stoic individual under a state of uncertainty and fall wayside, only then to ponder if there's a meaning to live in this hardened existence. Trials and tribulation should evolve us...make us stronger and prepare for future events, but it's not always the case.

Suddenly, you find something rather odd: a place that is both relaxing and gentle. To you, it's the one place where hellish pain cannot reach - The Haven or Solace. We all have one of those, and it's not limited to just one thing. It could be an environment, a particular place, an item, or even something as simple as an activity like taking deep breaths.

So, with this, I ask the lot of you...

What's your personal haven and why?

In light of the recent bickering and squabble, let's take this time to give one another something and share with each other, what solace means to us.

The Chesapeake Bay is my happy place. I loved it as a child, and love it even more as an adult. My dreams run free there.

I'm not really familiar with the location much, but it would be nice to post some photo of it or something. :)

But what do you feel when you are in Ches Bay?

I'm a city girl through and through, but when I need a breather I head back to nature...usually the beach, sometimes the mountains. Anywhere I can walk/hike, clear my head, and get away from the craziness that fills every day life. There is something incredibly peaceful about the feeling of sand under my feet, watching the waves crash on the beach. Same can be said for hiking a mountain trail. Fresh air and exercise can clear a multitude of stressors.

I am in transition right now. About to sell my home and look for a new place. Usually my home is my haven. Looking forward to a new beginning on my own in my new safe haven.

the water...having said that it can be a waterfall...the rain...lake...stream...river...ocean...taking a bubble bath or sitting beside a bubbling fountain...i find peace near water...a tranquil escape knowing it can be gentle or a mighty force to be reckoned with...

The forest around my mothers place in Sweden. I can walk around there for hours. So soothing and blissful to be there.

    The Lakefront

The main area of solace for me. It may not look like much, but when you see the setting itself, you're treated to a calm and personable bit of scenery that not only gives me a sense of ease, but a comfort I longed for. Whether I'm laying on the glass, or just sitting on the bench right along the lake, I can actually let go of any problems I have and simply walk along the lines of calm.

It's only necessary for me to hold myself onto the notion that there is some place I can retreat to whenever I'm about to blow a vein.

Being in nature is where I find solace. It could be the botanic gardens, it could be my favorite place in Chicago, which is by the lakefront where I can look out and seemingly see the whole city, it could be in a quiet place where I never leave my car, but I can open the windows and hear the wind, the birds, trees rustling, it could be a drive along a country road where all I see are rolling, green hills, it could be driving through the mountains or skiing, etc.

I also meditate to help bring me back to center.

I love anything water related as well.
Especially if it is outdoors while the sun is shining. That is perfection :)

My man cave. It offers solitude, comfort and entertainment and my wife drops in and out. The kids are a shout away.

Back in the mid to late 80's, I often went to Crescent Field Park in Dover, N.J.
I sat on the swings and watched the transit trains go by. I went there every time I wanted to be alone. Day or night. The park had changed and is way safer for children and families. I remember a friend of mine who had made an audio recording of a sexual excapade with a girl. When he was finished, he mentioned to the girl that he had to go see me at Crescent Field Park. She asked why I go there. He told her that I go there to be alone. In hindsight, I think that he should've stayed with the girl and not seen me that night. I had found a lot of solace there. Now, I have no place to find solace.

Everyone has somewhere G, sometimes it just takes a little creativity to find some place new that brings you peace like that park did.

Happy new year love...here's hoping that you find that peaceful place soon :freehug:
