Best girlfriend I ever had was from Sweden. I was way too young to appreciate her at the time we were dating. Youth is truly wasted on the young.
That's exactly what you said, and it reflects the mentality of security vs choice. I think the reason you are here, based on your explanation, is opportunity. That is the reason people from other countries come to the US, because it is the place that offers the greatest opportunity for success, with risk of course. I think it is laughable (notwithstanding this little survey) to believe that the US is not the most prosperous in every sense of the word.
People immigrate in droves to Europe too for the sake of opportunity. What's laughable is your obtuseness. I just read a story that says that a third of bank tellers in the US are on public assistance. That used to be a decent middle income job from which a person could support himself and his family. The "middle class" is effectively dead in this country and so is the veneer of social mobility.
Can you come up with a more quantifiable description than "droves"? In relative terms, the flow goes in one direction. It is called the Immigration and Naturalization Service for a reason. What you're referring to is Emigration, not Immigration, and it is not statistically significant compared to immigration in the US.
I said it was paid by taxes. But yes I used the term 'free' closely as it is not paid for in the way it is here. Your smart enough to understand what I mean. I had the exact same opportunities elsewhere as I explained. And...uhm....ok?
You said... But you also said... In fact, Euro regulations also dictate how many people can use that "free" education to become doctors, engineers, etc. The government sets a limit. You had greater opportunities in your chosen field in the US because of less government regulation.
You know exactly what I meant, come on now. I didn't come here to do what I do for a living. That was a mere fluke.
This is why it's pointless to "debate" conservatives. Dude wants to harp on semantic bullshit like the usage of the words "droves" and "free" while completely ignoring the real issues, specifically the collapse of the American middle class and the fact that the "opportunities" (social mobility) that he's talking about no longer exist in the US. If Sir Nose wants to believe that the US is #1 because the powers that be have allowed a glut of illegal immigrants to act as cheap labor after using trade deals to destroy the ability of those people to support themselves in their own countries, so be it. Everybody who isn't deluding themselves knows where the country is headed.
On healthcare I hear from conservatives on other European countries but,for Scandinavia there are just a few. Yes,the taxes are high but,the money is used in the right way than America or other countries. The rich Swedes and Danes who do not want to pay such taxes are just very greedy and go to tax exile. I love reading about the Black expats who live in Sweden and other Nordic lands.
