This story is making the rounds across the internet and as this is an IR website and this is an IR related story I thought it should be discussed here.

This is Nate Hill an artist from NYC who is no stranger to weird art projects. His latest though has some people in an uproar. His latest project entails him wearing stripped down white women and wearing them as scarves. His website mission statement.

I wear white women for status and power.

He was interviewed and it can be found here:

So what do you guys think is this art or just another black eye for IR relationships?

From his statement, I assume he is joking and poking fun at the stereotype that bm date ww as a status symbol.

never heard of him...looks to me like nate hill needed a white woman draped around his neck to make a name for himself...is that a blow up doll? seems like that might be more his speed...

    is this art? :smt078

Sure it's weird but, performance art is meant to get people talking.

Definitely not art. Seems incredibly degrading to ww. Stuff like this frustrates me...it's not cute, it's not funny, it's not art. It's disrespectful. He talks about wanting to shed light on how ww are seen as a status symbol, which is fine...lets talk about it, but instead of starting an intellectual conversation, he makes a mockery of it and uses these ww as accessories.

His other little "project" makes his true agenda clear in my mind...

"Most recently, he’s been focusing on doing race-based pieces, like "White Power Milk," in which he operates a website where you can order milk gargled by pretty, college-educated white girls."

To me, he's making ww the brunt of his jokes. His antics don't promote respectful dialogue IMO.

I must say if the races were in reverse, their would be an uproar by folks...

He's definitely not pro-IR and really just promoting stereotypes about it.

It's hard to believe IR couplings are still that mysterious and exotic for so many folks.

This seems like a stunt a performance artist would have done in the late '70s/mid 80s.

In 2013 it seems dated from a cultural perspective.

Good to see that you're waking up and seeing it more clearly.

By now, are you asking yourself, "Can the human species actually tolerate seeing interracial relationships?"

If IR relationships are so "mysterious & exotic" from your POV, why is it you are here on this site ??? And why do you always give a fuck about what others outside of IR relationships think, especially since you aren't even in one & have expressed concerns numerous times about even being in one???

As it should.,. when was the last time being with a black person was seen as a trophy of any type?

In fact, the term 'trophy' is perhaps most frequently used when referring to the white female partner of famous blacks male. It should seem the trophy in the relationship would be the famous black male, since he is the one with the notoriety, 'influence', or finances. But no, in this society the one considered the 'trophy' is the white female, no matter where she comes from on the socio-economic ladder.

Another way to look at it would be famous black females with average joe white males. Is the white male considered a trophy or the black female? Or neither?

I certainly can see what the "artist" was going for... and yes, it can be considered "art". It's a theme that will certainly get people talking as well. Personally, I prefer my art Raisin Bran free.

Reminds me of Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno, but straight. What's next having a white girl feed him at a restaurant?

Here's the problem. I can't speak for other people but I can speak for myself. One of the things my mom realized about my personality was that I was "boring". Black men who are "boring" don't seem to have any appeal to satisfy black women. I also think that black women have unrealistic expectations for what they want out of a man, for them it's exclusively black men. I'm here because I'm appreciated by non-black women (not just white women), but I have some hesitance to actually engage in dating or having sex with one. It's difficult to think about that Ra while you read things on the internet saying that Americans unequivocally agree that race relations and discourse about race in America isn't good. They give the state of race relations an embarrassing score, and we also have to think about race relations within our own race, compared to that of other ethnic groups. It's like you take a test, fail the test, then re-take the test, knowing that you wouldn't get a passing score on it. Think about the Knockout game also. That is global, White people in England and Indian people in America are playing that game. But most of the focus on the Knockout game is from WorldStarHipHop and the coverage shows mostly black participants engaging in the game. Also don't forget the Flash Mobs. Everyone of every race was doing it, but more often they kept shifting to the black people (men and women) who were a part of the mobs.

I only have two choices, both of which are problematic. I either have to date a non-black woman, or no one at all (almost equivalent to a homosexual relationship). Why do you think news of "gay is the new black" has been picking up steam and circulating throughout the black community? Even white people are finding that and reporting it too. Some black men and black women are dating themselves instead of the opposite gender of the same race.

If we as people didn't associate stupid stuff with interracial relationships, there wouldn't be a need for other people to fervently complain, especially on the internet.

Mikey, a really important lesson in life is to know what/who makes you happy, and once you attain your goals, don't give a DAMN about the opinions of others. There will ALWAYS be someone with something negative to say about others no matter who you are. Live your life and be happy, don't worry about the internet, this is 20 + years of IR bliss speaking here.
