Under stood Ches. I have never met those type of atheists before. Atheists who are here…what say you?

I don’t believe God is a him, her, it or they. I believe that we have finite minds and cannot begin to come close to something that is as infinite as I believe God is. So I don’t even attempt. I think I would be very arrogant in trying to understand that which is too large for me to understand in such a totality that I can define the entity (for lack of a word) as a him, her, it or they. Truth be told, I am a deist which I define as a believer in belief in the existence of a God based upon the evidence of reason and nature only and the rejection of supernatural revelation (which I call hocus-pocus chicanery). Additionally, I have the belief that God created the world but has since remained indifferent to it, humans and all else that has been created.

I think most religions are egotistically driven and although I’m not an atheist, I deeply understand their position and why they feel the way they do.

Why would God go to the trouble to create something as magnificent as the earth and human beings, to then be indifferent to it/them? Wouldn't that be akin to parents purposefully creating a child and then abandoning it? Why do that?

The only way I can believe in a God is to believe he/she/it is NOT responsible for our actions. That God is somehow crying over human behavior. How could a loving God have allowed 9/11 or the Holocaust or slavery or horrible wars? What could possibly explain that?

    Isaiah 55:8-9

New International Version (NIV) 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

That is a supposition that it was "trouble" to create something. Maybe we were just a genetic experiment gone horribly wrong lol. I actually don't know ...and neither does anyone else. A lot of people believe but no one truly knows. I actually like it that way.

Parents? children? Again, I have a finite mind and can't fathom what an infinite thought pattern might look like and have no idea why God would do that. Perhaps to go and create new galaxies and other universe/multiverse? I have no idea.
