From one of my threads in a rep comment

"I've given you numerous compliments in the 2 yrs I've been on the board and you've never acknowledged one of them."

Not sure who it is, but whoever said it SORRY and a sincere THANK YOU. I feel like a total dick now. Just want to say yes I appreciate the positives around me and working on creating further happiness in my life. :)

It wasn't my intent to ignore you if I did.

it sounds to me like she is trying to tell you that "you are her brand" having said that...you may be missing the signs that are right in front of you...if possible, start engaging with more people even if you aren't interested...it will put you into a comfort zone so that when the right person comes along you will perk right up when the signs are apparent...preppy in dallas...I bet there are a lot of women trying to get your attention;)

    Concur w Lippy.

I happen to know a lot of women who prefer the preppy, clean-cut guy.

It wasn't me, but I know what she means.
I also noticed that you barely ever respond to positive remarks/compliments.
I have seen women compliment you and was wondering "why the fuck this guy never even says thank you"?
You gotta work on that to be a ladies man ;)

Ooops, I may be guilty of this too. I agree with blackbrah the lack of PM is a major pain. Why won't the mods enable it?

Nope my brand is mad local, I do need to expand it on an global level.

No PM function actually helps the forum tremendously. If their was a pm function, men would hardly participate in threads and women would complain of the onslaught of nasty messages that fills their inbox.

If you like someone or got something to say, just be upfront about it.

Most forums have a PM function. I just wanted to know who made that comment because they put it in my user CP and I don't know their name.

Majority of forums have a PM (personal message) function where you can message people directly discretely.

Sites with a far greater membership count than here have Private Messages, don't see why the mods are so dead set against it. This forum is slightly crippled by having that function removed as people who may want to contact each other outside of this site have to use the rep feature which is far from ideal for that purpose.

If you want to prevent abuse things can be put in place to prevent/stop it.

What makes you think the mods have anything to do with PM being unavailable? We don't own the site, and we don't have the say-so or the ability to turn it on or off. That's the Webmaster's department, and as he's explained many times, he has his reasons for disabling the PM feature (evidently it's more trouble than it's worth). You can always contact him if you have any suggestions or issues concerning the site.

IMO, the lack of PM is not a big deal. It hasn't prevented people from making contact outside of the forum. The rep system is fine for passing along contact info and expressing interest in contact away from the board. If the person is interested, he/she will use the contact info, and then they can do all the "private messaging" they want. Some members also provide their contact info in their profiles.

I also don't see what difference PM would've made in the OP's case. The fact that the person who left the rep didn't sign it is a pretty solid indication that she wanted to remain anonymous.
